Emmerdale announces two exits leaving fans in tears – with four more to come

Emmerdale confirmed two devastating departures with viewers on Wednesday, amid rumours that four more characters at least will bow out this year on the ITV soap

Two exits have been confirmed on Emmerdale, but there are more ahead

Amid death rumours sparked by a wedding promo, previous reports appeared to confirm four upcoming character exits. Two further exits were confirmed by the ITV soap on Wednesday, in the latest episode, making that number six.

Monty the Dingle dog sadly passed away, as he was put to sleep after a cancer diagnosis. With his health rapidly declining, the Dingles agreed it was time to say goodbye.

Cain Dingle accompanied Monty to the vets and was with him when he died. But this wasn’t the only loss hitting the Dingles in this episode.

Later, the episode ended with the departure of Noah Dingle. After more than 20 years, Noah left the village for a new life abroad.

Actor Jack Downham, who has played the character for 17 years since 2009, bowed out in the episode having filmed his final scenes. it has been reported that Jack had been written out of the show, but nothing was confirmed at the time.

This is Noah’s exit storyline, and he has left the show for good. So that’s Noah and Monty who have both left the show, with three other exits reported too.

According to reports, Jimmy King, Dawn Taylor and Vinny Dingle will all leave the show this year, with Dr Todd also soon to go. Again nothing is confirmed by cast or the show, but it seems the storylines will happen.

As for Monty and Noah’s exits, fans took to social media, with Monty’s death leaving fans “in tears”. One fan said: “Not #Emmerdale getting me teary at midday.”

Another viewer said: “Poor Monty. I could barely watch,” as a third fan wrote: “When Monty gave Cain his paw I was BROKEN. Sobbed like a baby. Dogs really are the most precious souls.”

Some viewers were also moved by the scenes with Noah as he said his goodbyes to the Dingle clan. One fan said: “Noah telling Cain he’s the closest thing he’s ever had to a dad and to look after Charity.”

Another fan wrote: “Losing Noah is a huge loss for #emmerdale – Jack is a great young actor.” Other fans pointed out that with Noah now leaving the show, and his exit having aired, surely this rules him out of the upcoming murder twist.

Dr Todd is set to be killed off as teased in a flashforward. Some fans had wondered if Charity Dingle’s son Noah would find out about Todd sexually assaulting Charity, and maybe he would be the killer, but this is now unlikely the case.
