Emmerdale favourite Amelia Flanagan has received a major honour.

The 18-year-old, best-known for her role as April Windsor in Emmerdale, has become a charity ambassador for West Yorkshire organisation Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. Winner of best young performer at the 2025 British Soap Awards, Amelia will help shine a light on the work of the children’s hospice, supporting fundraising campaigns and helping the Huddersfield charity to reach new audiences.

Born in Leeds, and raised in Halifax, Amelia, visited the charity’s purpose built children’s hospice Russell House in April 2026, learning about the work Forget Me Not does, both within local communities and across the region as a whole.

Amelia joins a select group of highly valued supporters of the charity, including fellow actors such as Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker and Happy Valley’s Rhys Connah. Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft, former footballer Mark Crossley and Rugby League legends Eorl Crabtree and Michael Lawrence are also Forget Me Not ambassadors.

Amelia said: “I’m really excited to become an ambassador for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. The work they do is so important and I am looking forward to helping them spread awareness of the specialist care they provide for children and families in West Yorkshire.”

Gareth Pierce, Forget Me Not’s chief executive officer, said: “We’re very proud to welcome Amelia on board as our latest ambassador and look forward to welcoming her to Russell House, where it’s fair to say she can enjoy a quieter time than her character in Emmerdale.

“We couldn’t be happier that she’s agreed to use her platform to help us continue making a difference. Having a rising star like Amelia adding her support is a great boost to our team and will help us reach new audiences and connect with other young people. We look forward to seeing what magic Amelia will bring to our charity.”
