EMMERDALE SHOCK: Fans furious as Charity’s ‘vile’ treatment of Ryan sparks major backlash
Emmerdale fans have been left stunned after watching Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) destroy her relationship with son Ryan Stocks (James Moore).
The beloved character has been spiralling in the aftermath of being raped by Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker).
At the moment, the only two people who know about all of Charity’s secrets are Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). Serena has been trying her best to support new friend Charity, while Mackenzie has struggled to process everything.
Yesterday, it was baby Leyla’s christening. After the ceremony at the church, her family gathered at the pub.
While Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) enjoyed every single moment, blissfully unaware of the truth about Leyla, Charity was becoming more and more overwhelmed with everything going on in her mind.
She proceeded to ignore Ryan, who has been wondering why his mum’s behaviour towards him has suddenly changed.
He went in search of answers from Charity, curious to know why she is treating him so badly.
When Ryan asked Charity what exactly he’s done, she sighed and said ‘you were born’.
Charity rushed off in a panic, while Ryan was stood all alone, utterly devastated.
Ryan’s biological father is a man called DI Bails, who abused Charity when she was a child. She became pregnant with Ryan when she was 14, but believed he died at birth.
Ryan was adopted by a woman called Irene, and made contact with Charity in 2018.
The ordeal Doctor Todd has put Charity through has reminded her of what happened when she was younger. Even though fans of the ITV soap can understand why Charity is struggling to be around Ryan at the moment, they are not happy with the way she is speaking to him.
Taking to social media platform X, plenty of audience members stuck up for Ryan.
‘I can’t believe she said that to him! There is absolutely zero excuse for that’, this user wrote.
Another said: ‘I don’t understand why she is being so cruel to him.’
Jordan added: ‘Charity that was brutal what you said to Ryan!’.
Mimi echoed everyone else’s thoughts and noted: ‘I’m usually team Charity, but not with today’s episode. #Emmerdale my heart goes out to Ryan.’

Charity Dingle is going to have another difficult situation to deal with soon, as today’s episode of the ITV soap has confirmed a major twist about Doctor Todd.

The instalment ends with Doctor Todd lying in a pool of blood after being killed.
The scene was a flashforward, which means we don’t know what happened in the lead up to her death right now.
There are plenty of suspects though – Mackenzie, Charity, Sarah, but did one of these residents kill her?
Or was it someone else?
