Inside Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb’s life as John ‘m.u.r.d.e.r.s’ Mackenzie
Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie Boyd in the ITV soap, shares a sweet family life with his siblings and has one famous partner
Emmerdale’s Mackenzie “Mack” Boyd (portrayed by Lawrence Robb) burst onto our screens in October 2020 as Moira Barton’s long-lost sibling. The Scottish heartthrob has found himself embroiled in no shortage of drama within the ITV village. From shady business ventures to dubious romantic entanglements, the character has had viewers shouting at their televisions due to his reckless behaviour.
This week, he appeared to meet his end when John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) smashed a rock on his head after a terrifying chase through the woods. While fans wonder if Mack really is d.e.a.d, that wasn’t his only brush with danger over the years. In 2024, he suffered a stabbing at Charity’s hands, and earlier in the year endured a kidnapping ordeal.
It appears that wherever he goes, chaos follows in his footsteps. Fortunately, the 34-year-old performer couldn’t be more different from his on-screen persona, reports the Express.
The soap star enjoys a considerably quieter existence away from the cameras alongside his lookalike siblings and devoted new partner.
Lookalike siblings
The soap heartthrob originates from Kilmacolm in northwest Glasgow and has consistently celebrated his Scottish heritage.
Raised in the picturesque village, Lawrence is part of a family of four children, sharing his upbringing with brothers JJ and Mitchell, plus sister Abi.
The television star is evidently devoted to his family, regularly posting heartwarming family photographs on social media. Via Instagram, Lawrence has previously showcased an endearing family ritual with his brothers online.
He cheekily shared a photo of their matching personalised number plates, followed by a group picture of his siblings all dolled up for a special family event, sporting matching tartan trousers.
Famous girlfriend
Lawrence is dating Pamela Blair, a West End star who was part of the cast of The Devil Wears Prada musical production.
Her other theatre roles include Beauty and the Beast, Oklahoma!, Cinderella, 42nd Street and Curtains. The gifted actress has also featured in the film Tomorrow Morning and made several TV appearances on BBC Proms and ITV’s The Olivier Awards.
While Lawrence prefers to keep his romantic life private, Pamela shared a series of photos from a previous holiday in Tuscany, celebrating her 28th birthday.
Prior to this, Pamela seemingly confirmed their relationship in July last year when the West End star posted pictures from their Cornwall holiday, where Lawrence posed with her adorable dog.
Any fan of the soap heartthrob would know he is a massive dog lover, often seen posting about his cute dachshunds named Peaches and Pip online.
He has also reposted a handful of photos of them together.
Hidden talent
Besides his acting prowess, Lawrence is also a skilled singer, having studied musical theatre at university.
His intensive vocal coaching sparked dreams of pursuing a singing career. Back in June 2020, Lawrence captivated his followers by sharing a video where he performed a powerful version of Ben E King’s Stand By Me on piano, displaying his remarkable vocal abilities.
Fans flooded the comments section with praise for his diverse talents. One admirer commented: “Oh my, you’re very talented in music. You’ll have to play that in the Wooly to Charity!” whilst another gushed: “Didn’t know you could sing and play piano as well as act. Absolutely amazing.”
These days, the multi-skilled entertainer happily seizes any opportunity that presents itself, whether that’s performing on stage or delivering compelling screen performances.
Lawrence, renowned for his Emmerdale appearances, has also featured in the acclaimed dark comedy-drama I Hate Suzie (2020) and appeared in the detective thriller The Trouble Downstairs (2014).
