John Sugden’s Next Victim Exposed – And It’s an Emmerdale Legend Everyone Thought Safe!

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that a legendary character could be k.i.l.l.e.d off after 28 years

Emmerdale fans are speculating that a soap icon could be k.i.l.l.e.d off after 28 years, as John Sugden targets his next victim.

Army medic John (Oliver Farnworth) made his first appearance in the village in August 2024, and immediately ruffled feathers.

Soap viewers will recall that he was behind the d.e.a.t.h of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) following last year’s barn fire.

In a flashback sequence, the antagonist was shown injecting Nate with an unidentified substance intended to “save” him. However, the drug had a lethal effect, leading to Nate’s unfortunate demise.

In an attempt to conceal his malevolent actions, John moved Nate’s body to a bridge and dumped the hidden corpse into the lake where the infamous limo crash occurred, reports Belfast Live.

Since Nate’s body was found by the police in May, John has been grappling with the magnitude of his deeds.

He initially framed Nate’s wife, Tracy (Amy Walsh), by planting Nate’s phone in their daughter Frankie’s (Eden Ratcliffe-Knights) playhouse.

However, John has now turned his attention to newcomer Owen Michaels (Simon Haines), who drugged John’s brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley), last month.

Last week, John discovered Owen unconscious at his home. While he initially considered calling an ambulance, he ultimately let Owen d.i.e before typing a note on his laptop.

It was later disclosed that the note John left was a fabricated confession to Nate’s d.e.a.t.h, confirming that Owen had indeed passed away.

Earlier this week, John found himself grappling with his feelings, prompting him to seek help from a mental health charity named Guardians.

Opting for their messaging service, he hinted to the advisor that he had done a really bad thing.

The volunteer proposed switching to a phone call, but at this juncture, the conversation came to an abrupt end. The audience then saw another laptop being shut, with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) seated in front of it.

In Thursday’s (July 24) hour-long episode, now available on ITVX, John continued to lean on Paddy for support, though neither party knew who they were communicating with.

“There’s no escape from it, all the hurt I’ve caused. Everywhere I go, there’s some reminder,” John confessed, admitting he was “drowning” in remorse.

Paddy suggested that John make a fresh start to ease his burdens, which seemed to lift the villain’s spirits.

Now, numerous Emmerdale enthusiasts are speculating that John and Paddy might have a phone conversation soon, potentially leading to disastrous outcomes.

Once John discovers that Paddy has been his anonymous confidant, viewers reckon he could take measures to ensure Paddy remains tight-lipped forever.

“If they speak on the phone, John will know Paddy’s voice and Paddy will be his next victim,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page.

A second viewer speculated: “I think Paddy needs to watch his back. As soon as John finds out that he’s the volunteer, he’s as good as d.e.a.d,” whilst another predicted: “Hopefully the start of something to bring John to justice.”
