Crime drama drama Beyond Paradise looks set to return for a fifth series next year.

The fourth series of the Death in Paradise spin-off is currently airing, with fans of the show gripped by the cases that DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) is solving with his police partner DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi).

TVZone has now reported that the BBC has commissioned a fifth run of the popular series, reports the Express.

Production on series five is reportedly scheduled to commence in Devon this July, with the new episodes of the show expected to reach screens next year.

The BBC has been contacted for comment.

Kris previously featured in the BBC’s much-loved crime drama Death in Paradise, set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie.

In 2023, he reprised his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the spin-off, which follows the officer as he settles into life in Shipton Abbott, Devon, alongside his long-term partner Martha (Sally Bretton), who he married in the 2025 Christmas special.

The fourth series has seen the couple navigate married life, while Humphrey’s investigations have included the death of his favourite crime novelist and a peculiar burglary in which the scene was meticulously cleaned following the incident.

Kris previously hinted that viewers can expect considerable “drama” in the fourth series, revealing during an appearance on The One Show: “There’s a lot more dramas following him.”

“Drama is not too far away with Humphrey!” he added with a laugh.

When asked about his favourite case from the new series, Kris revealed: “Well, I mean, I always love anything involving water and being in the water or on the water. We have got a wonderful episode this season about mermaids. So obviously that invariably involves a lot of water.

“And yeah, so that’s always my favourite.”

Death in Paradise has been on screens since 2011, with Beyond Paradise launching 12 years later.

A further spin-off, Return to Paradise, which is set in Australia, made its debut in 2024.

Beyond Paradise airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
