Paying tribute to her colleagues, she continued: “A huge congratulations to the entire team for the work that went into it. I adore each and every one of ya. We can’t wait to share it with you…sometime down the line.”, reports the Mirror.

The star also quipped: “I barely took any photos because there were so many murders and waistcoats to be getting on with…and I was constantly misplacing my phone.”

Fans flooded the comments section to express their enthusiasm for the forthcoming series. One follower wrote: “Amazing News!!! Really excited to see what happened next!”

Another commented: “Amazing news, congratulations!!! Can’t wait to see the masterpiece of season 3! Great photos of you all!” While a third chimed in: “Ah brilliant. Looking forward to this in the UK. Wish they’d do a crossover with either Beyond Paradise or Death in Paradise..” The second series of Return to Paradise was hailed as “better than Death in Paradise” by one IMDB user, who wrote: “Anna Samson as DS Mackenzie Clarke is most impressive as the tenacious detective on loan from the British police.”

Fellow enthusiastic viewers echoed this sentiment, awarding the series ten out of ten and describing it as “unexpectedly excellent” and “full of charm”.

Earlier this year, the BBC revealed details surrounding the forthcoming third series, suggesting that Mackenzie will continue to grapple with the fallout from the dramatic conclusion of series two. Despite her determination to put her past behind her, she finds herself struggling.

Excerpts from the synopsis read: “DS Mackenzie Clarke is back, fresh from having wrecked another of Glenn’s (Tai Hara) weddings and determined never to follow her heart again. But ignoring her heart won’t be easy.

“The arrival of her force-of-nature mother Jillian (Kerry Armstrong) puts Mack’s mettle to the ultimate test and there’s something undeniable about the raffish charm of the new pathologist Leo (Jacob Collins-Levy). And as for Glenn, who has gone away to ‘find himself’, well that’s a whole other puzzle for Mack to try and solve…”
