Emmerdale airs shocking murder as villain is killed off after terrorising villagers for months

EMMERDALE has killed off a villain in shocking scenes – after the character spent months terrorising villagers.
The demise takes place in today’s (July 1) episode of the ITV soap, which is already airing on YouTube and ITVX.
Dr. Caitlin Todd – played by Caroline Harker – has met her maker after becoming a major antagonist in recent months.
A few weeks ago, Dr. Todd left the village for a new job in Sheffield, but Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) paid her a visit in the latest episodes.
He wanted to speak to the villain about her sexually assaulting his wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
In today’s installment, Dr. Todd initially denies Mack’s claims, calling Charity a liar and saying they had sex consensually.
She then tells Mack about baby Leyla actually being Charity and Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) child – unaware he already knows this.
When Mack grows angry, Dr. Todd calls security, although he leaves without causing an issue.
Mack later listens to a voice note from Charity as Dr. Todd shows her true colours.
She claims there is no chance of her being convicted and the jury will believe her, as a respected medical professional.
But viewers are left with a mystery whodunnit as the episode then cuts to a scene showing Dr. Todd dead, lying in a pool of blood.
Given the cliffhanger, the identity of the person responsible has yet to be revealed.
As seen previously, the police are investigating Charity’s allegations against Dr. Todd, which also include blackmail.
However, it now appears that the villain will evade justice from the law.
It comes as The Sun exclusively revealed actress Caroline Harker’s exit last month.
A source said: “Caroline only came in on a short term contract, and knew she would never stay long-term.
That’s the sad situation at the moment, with all the cuts people are rarely getting long contracts anymore. There just isn’t the money.”
Emmerdale were approached for comment at the time.
Dr. Todd debuted on Emmerdale in 2025, but returned in a more prominent role earlier this year.
Viewers have seen the villain bullying and tormenting Jacob Gallagher at work, and blackmailing Charity over Leyla’s parentage.
Her departure came after a trio of stars have been axed following the brutal ITV budget cuts.
Olivia Bromley, Nick Miles and Bradley Johnson – who play Dawn, Jimmy and Vinny – will all be leaving later this year.
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
