Emmerdale return ‘sealed’ for favourite eight years after dramatic exit
As the elusive arsonist continues to wreak havoc on Emmerdale Farm, some viewers are hoping a much-loved villager is returning.
Emmerdale viewers are convinced Adam Barton has secretly returned to the village.
Adam Thomas played Adam Barton on the ITV soap for almost a decade, first appearing in 2009 and making his dramatic final appearance in January 2018.
An abrupt exit came after he falsely confessed to the murder of Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney) to protect his mum, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), who had pushed Emma off the viaduct and killed her.
The last viewers saw of Adam, he was being broken out of a prison van by Aaron (Danny Miller) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) on the day of his sentencing.
They took Adam to the docks, gave him money and a new passport, and told him to get on a ship to Amsterdam, then to France, where a friend of Aaron’s would provide him with work. Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) arrived and attempted to stop him from leaving, but Adam departed on the cargo ship.

While Robert’s former flame, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), and youngster Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) have also emerged as key suspects in the mysterious arson storyline, it was Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) who was in the firing line on Wednesday (May 27).
Despite Robert being hellbent on finding out who the arsonist is, his partner, Aaron, isn’t so sure about his list of suspects so far.

Social media has since been flooded with eagle-eyed soap fans predicting the identity of the arsonist, with some believing it is Adam.
On Facebook, one viewer shared: “My theory on the firestarter…….I reckon it’s Adam Barton. We all know he’s coming back…..”
A second stated: ” Someone from the past”, while a third simply chimed in: “Adam”.
“Is Adam definitely coming back?” asked one fan while another echoed the sentiment: ” No, Adam isn’t coming back, is he?”ked one fan while another echoed the sentiment: ” No Adam isn’t coming back, is he?”.
On X, another added: “Possible fire starters….Adam Barton?”
