EastEnders fans have a very intriguing flashforward theory – and they could be onto something
EastEnders fans are continuing to share theories following the flashforward episode at the start of the year – and the latest one is very strong.
Back in January, the BBC One soap aired an instalment set in 2027. It centred on the drama Max Branning (Jake Wood) will find himself involved in, but also focused on other characters including Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and a returning Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu).
At Jack’s house, audience members grew deeply concerned as Denise Fox (Diane Parish) was nowhere to be seen. They saw Jack, Lauren, Libby, and also a baby called Ethan.
At one particular point, Lauren tells Jack ‘I know today is going to be difficult for you’.
This left plenty wondering if Denise wasn’t present in the Branning household because she was actually Max’s bride, however, a fan on TikTok has now put forward a new idea – and it’s definitely possible.
Lyndsay has shared that she believes the wedding ring Jack is holding in the scenes actually belongs to his ex-partner Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack).
After some clever detective work, Lyndsay discovered that Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell’s (Rita Simons) deaths happened on January 1, 2017. It means that by the time the flashforward actually airs, it will be 10 years since Jack lost Ronnie.
According to Lyndsay, this means that Jack is actually in a low place not because his partner has betrayed him for his brother, but because he’s reflecting on how it’s been 10 years since Ronnie’s death.
Plenty of fans in the comments seem to agree.
‘That makes sense, 10 years since Jack lost his wife and Amy lost her mum’, this TikTok user said.
Another wrote in agreement: ‘Ooo! Well done I think your right’.
Nicky added: ‘Don’t think Denise will marry max!’.
This person noted: ‘I think you’re spot on. They’ve set it up now that Denise is going to die but I think it’s Roxy’s ring like you say. Max & Denise aren’t together. I think it’s Priya in bed with Max and she’s pregnant with Ravi’s baby, however Stacey is due a return!’.
The possibility of Jack and Denise splitting up seems pretty slim at the moment, given the life-changing diagnosis Denise received earlier this week.
The beloved character was told that she has AML, which is a type of blood cancer. Denise was absolutely devastated. She’s going to need all the support she can get from her loved ones, which certainly suggests her relationship with Jack isn’t going to break down anytime soon.
But of course, this is EastEnders, and we have quite a bit of time between now and January 1, 2027 – anything can happen.
