Emmerdale fans left raging as beloved character ‘axed’ after eight years on ITV soap

Emmerdale has reportedly dropped Olivia Bromley after playing the character Dawn Taylor for the past eight years, with the actress set to film her final scenes later this year. According to The Sun, her co-stars on the ITV soap have been left furious over her axing, with a source saying: “Olivia is adored by everyone at Emmerdale, so the decision to axe her has not gone down well at all.”
They claimed: “She’s a popular member of the cast, and if they can get rid of Olivia, then the feeling is virtually no one is safe. Olivia understood their decision and is preparing to film her exit in the coming months.“ Her character, Dawn, has been at the heart of some major storylines since joining the Yorkshire-based serial drama in 2018.

Dawn managed to curb her drug addiction and stop prostituting as part of her storyline and even escaped a brutal gang. Later down the line, she married Billy Fletcher (played by Jay Kontzle) and also had a shock relationship with her step-brother Jamie Tate.
When Express.co.uk contacted ITV for comment, it said it was unable to comment on stars’ contracts.
The announcement comes just months after ITV announced it would cut its soap coverage across Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
It’s led to an exodus of cast members, including Lesley Dunlop (Brenda Walker), Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Harding), Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy Wyatt), Dean Andrews (Will Taylor) and Paula Lane (Ella Forster).
Gutted Emmerdale fans have been flocking to X following the claims Olivia has been axed, with one furious person writing: “Dawn Taylor, I’m sorry they stuck you in Home Farm for so long. I hope it’s not true that they’ve axed Olivia Bromley.”
Another upset fan said: “Axing Dawn because they’ve ‘done all they can with her’ when there is so much potential with her character, yet a bunch of useless men stay, oh, the producers aren’t seeing the pearly gates.”
A third penned: “Nooo, such a shame. I love Dawn,” while a fourth added: “Whoa, I did not see that one coming. I really like Dawn, too.”
Someone else penned: “Emmerdale, just say you hate me cause how dare you get rid of Dawn.” Another said: “Coming onto Twitter to find out Dawn has been axed from Emmerdale, oh my god!”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
