Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise fans have been left floored after realising who star Don Gilet is reportedly dating.

Don made his debut on the beloved detective drama back in 2024, as DI Mervin Wilson, and the actor quickly became a firm favourite among the show’s loyal legion of fans.

Mervin headed to the island to investigate the Dᴇᴀᴛʜ of his mother, Dorna Bray (Judith Jacob) after she died suspiciously. By the end of the series, he managed to solve the case and he also found out he had a secret half-brother.

Prior to Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, Don found fame as bad guy Lucas Johnson in BBC’s EastEnders on-and-off from 2008 to 2024. He has also appeared in Holby City, Shetland and Midsomer Murders.

Away from the TV shows though, Don is reportedly dating Siobhan Finneran – with who he starred alongside in the 2017 series The Loch.

Siobhan is also a hugely successful actor, known for her roles as Miss O’Brien in Downton Abbey and Clare in Happy Valley. She also played Janice Harvey in the ITV sitcom Benidorm from 2007 to 2015.

He became a hit with viewers

Don and Siobhan are said to have built a connection while working together in 2017. While they have not confirmed their relationship status publicly, they were seen hand-in-hand at several public events in recent years.

Further fuelling the speculation, Siobhan fondly referred to Don as “my fella” during an interview with The Guardian.

And it seems fans have been left floored after finding out about the rumoured couple, Don and Siobhan. On a Facebook fan page, alongside a photo of the pair, one person wrote: “Aw I didn’t know they were a couple, both talented actors.”

Someone else agreed: “I LOVE Siobhan Finneran, so now I love Don Gilet even more.” A third chimed in: “Hope they are happy, she’s brilliant in Happy Valley, such a talented actor.”

Before striking up a ‘romance’ with Siobhan, Don was previously married to fellow actress Tracy Whitwell, who started in Peep Show and Soldier, Soldier. The former couple lived together in Bedfordshire and share a son called Flynn.

Siobhan meanwhile was previously married for 17 years to British actor Mark Jordon, known for his roles in Emmerdale and Heartbeat. They separated in 2014 and share two children, Poppy and Joseph.
