Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall breaks silence after brutally honest verdict shocks fans!
Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall opened up on how the show is made and admitted "I don't know how they do it" as a fellow star gave his honest opinion on the hit programme
Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall admitted “I don’t know how they do it” as a star shared his brutally honest opinion on the hit show.
The 52-year-old actor plays DI Humphrey Goodman in the hit BBC crime show, a role he first performed from 2014 to 2017 in Death in Paradise.
Beyond Paradise episodes are renowned for being slow burners, which led Virgin Radio presenter Chris Evans to give his honest thoughts during an interview with the show’s star.
The former Top Gear host revealed a Beyond Paradise Christmas special left him thinking: “They’ve got to get on with this.”
The radio DJ said: “I’m going to say it. I’ve got the bottle to say it now. And it’s not disrespectful, it’s the opposite of that. I was watching it last night and I was thinking: ‘OK, Christmas special. I know it’s a Christmas special because I know it’s a Christmas special. I’m thinking is it 90 minutes long, so I check the time.
“It’s not 90 minutes long, it’s less than an hour. Is it episodic? No it’s all in one, it’s fully formed. I’ve been watching it for 10 minutes and not much has happened to do with the crime.
“I really enjoyed the first 10 minutes which is why I’m not being disrespectful, but I thought: ‘They’ve got to get on with this.’ But of course they’re so good at it, it takes its time, it’s got three story arcs, there’s a red herring and there is a crime and you solve it and it’s really good and it’s like: ‘We had all the time in the world.'”
The presenter finished his monologue by saying: “And it all happens in an hour and I don’t know how they do it Kristopher.”
The actor admits he understands where he is coming from as he feels the same whenever he picks up a script. Kris puts the end result down to the “genius” of creator Tony Jordan, the former EastEnders writer.
He said: “I don’t know how they do it either Christopher. Every time I pick a script I’m exactly the same as you, I think: ‘How are they going to get this done?’
“I’m 10 minutes in, nothing’s happened, I don’t know what’s going on, there’s not even been a crime yet, everything’s lovely.
“We get to 8.45 and nothing’s happened. When are we going to solve this crime? And then suddenly everything evolves within the last 10 minutes.”
As well as Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise, Kris is most famous for his roles in My Family and Love Actually.
Catch Kris and his co-stars tonight (Friday, April 10) as the new series of Beyond Paradise continues from 8pm to 9pm on BBC One.
