Emmerdale has recently introduced newcomer Serena Sugden to the village but her behaviour has soon been causing suspicion.
Serena, played by Casey Al-Shaqsy, made her first debut last month as a member of the Sugden family as her grandfather was Robert Sugden’s father Jack’s cousin. Serena admitted that she was homeless and jobless so decided to visit and ask her family in the village for help.
Serena has since been welcomed in Sarah Sugden’s home to stay and Charity Dingle has offered her work as a barmaid at The Woolpack after opening up to the newcomer about her recent troubles.
Since getting settled into the village, Serena has been digging for information about her serial killer cousin John Sugden, who she had been acquainted with.

Soap watchers will recall that Robert’s half-brother John killed Nate Robinson, left Mackenzie Boyd to die, attempted to murder Robert and put his ex-fiancé, Aidan Moore, into a coma due to a so-called hero complex.
Things came to an explosive head when John’s actions were exposed and he held his estranged husband, Aaron Dingle, hostage before being killed by half-sister Victoria Sugden in self-defence as he attempted to flee.
Talking to Claudette Anderson recently, Serena enquired whether she was aware that her former colleague, John, was a killer before asking about his job performance.
After Claudette grew suspicious, Serena clarified: “Interesting, finding out your cousin is a legit murderer, I want to fill in the gaps.”

It comes as a synopsis teased about the newcomer: “Serena will find herself at the heart of the drama when she is drawn into the aftermath of a character’s traumatic situation, finding herself conflicted about what she has become involved in. Soon, her presence raises questions about her true motivations for settling in the Dales and where her loyalties ultimately lie.”
Meanwhile, Emmerdale Producer, Laura Shaw, said: “The Sugdens are a core part of the Emmerdale fabric, and we are thrilled to welcome Casey to the family.
“Her character will be at the heart of some extremely gripping and unexpected storylines, forcing her to make difficult choices that will have dramatic consequences for some of the village’s biggest names.”
