BBC crime drama Cuffs is now streaming on Netflix, showcasing Alex Carter as PC Lino Moretti

Cuffs, a crime drama series portraying the lives of front-line police officers in Brighton and Sussex, has now joined the ranks of classic dramas on Netflix. The series originally aired on BBC One in 2015, but fans were left disheartened when it was cancelled after just one season.
The decision to cancel the show was met with criticism from many of its stars, and a petition was even launched in an attempt to persuade the BBC to reconsider, but to no avail.
Alex Carter takes on the role of PC Lino Moretti, a slightly out-of-shape officer who takes pride in his Italian roots. Carter, a 43 year old actor hailing from Oldham, is best known for his roles as Jamie Hope in Emmerdale and Lee Hunter in Hollyoaks.
He has a brother named Bruce, who is part of the band The Whip, and both siblings attended the Blue Coat School in Oldham. The Whip, a rock band from Manchester, counts Bruce as one of its founding members.
One of their songs features in the soundtrack for FIFA 09, the video game by EA Sports. Their track Trash gained the band significant exposure after it was used in a national TV advertising campaign for Coors Light Beer.

Outside of acting, Alex Carter hosted the Saturday afternoon sports programme Latics Live on The Revolution between 2008 and 2011, being a lifelong supporter of Oldham Athletic A. F. C.
In the early 2000s, he joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Lee Hunter, remaining on the show for four years before his character departed to embark on a world tour.
Carter revealed his intention to depart the soap in 2005 “to have more free time”, but following a five-year break, his character made a comeback.
He became part of Emmerdale in 2006 as Jamie Hope – the eldest offspring of the well-established character Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw).
In 2010 he declared he was departing the soap after four years, seeking to pursue fresh opportunities.

He explained to BBC 6 Music at the time: “I’m getting thoroughly depressed because I’m in work every day for about four hours.
“It’s like they’re teasing me because I’m leaving and I’ve got one line. I’m in work every day. It’s driving me mental.”
His most recent role was portraying Jeff in the comedy series So Awkward Academy.
