The ‘real reason’ Jimmy King crashed his car into the marquee on Emmerdale has been ‘rumbled’ by fans.
Jimmy (Nick Miles) has been a staple on the long-running ITV soap since back in 2004 – and it’s fair to say he has become one of the show’s beloved characters amongst fans. He has also played a part in several big storylines during his stint.
From his beloved marriage to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) to even being stabbed, Jimmy’s time in the Dales has not been short of drama. In May, though, it was reported that Jimmy would be killed off.
And since then, fans have been speculating how the soap legend’s potential exit storyline would play out. Over on the soap recently, his relationship with Nicola has gone through a rough patch, with Nicola attempting to put the spark back in their marriage.
Jimmy is a soap legend
In Wednesday’s episode (August 26), it was revealed that Jimmy was planning a surprise picnic for Nicola. He told her to meet him at their special place on the Home Farm land. Later on, though, just as Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) arrived at the marquee to try and win back Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) on their wedding day, a car came crashing into the marquee.
Although it was not known who was behind the wheel, it was soon confirmed that Jimmy was driving the car and was unconscious behind the wheel. Joe and Dawn, meanwhile, could be seen knocked out among the wreckage.
Now, while some fans think Jimmy had a heart attack while driving, causing him to crash, other viewers have a shock theory – and it involves his ex Sadie King (Patsy Kensit). Writing on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person mused: “I think he was poisoned.”

Another chimed in: “By Sadie? She’s returning soon, isn’t she?” A third added: “Yeah, that would make sense with her coming back.” Meanwhile, speaking to the press at a recent event, Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw teased Sadie’s return. She said: “It’s Sadie King. I feel like, of course, she’s got an agenda…
“What I can say is the reason that Sadie comes back and the secret she comes back with is gonna be absolutely shocking. And whether all is quite as it seems, we shall see as the story progresses, but it’s gonna be pretty big and pretty shocking.”

Laura went on: “We’ve definitely tried to bring Sadie back every bit in a dramatic way as she arrived last time. So, I think her arrival will be every bit as amazing and brilliant as the first time around.
“I think probably the most shocking thing is definitely the reason that brings her back. It’s undoubtedly one of the biggest secrets we’ve ever had within the King family, and it’s gonna be pretty explosive.”
