The returning character’s arrival comes at a dramatic time for the residents of Albert Square, with tensions already running high.

Whitney meets Zack for a drink in tonight’s episode.

The pair catch up and Zack asks if she would consider moving back to the Square and they can get back together and be a proper family.

However, Zack was left disappointed when Whitney revealed she is seeing someone else.

Fans were quick to react online after spotting the familiar face back on screen following their exit two years ago.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: “WHITNEY?! #eastenders“

Another added: “Great to see @ShonaBM back looking so well – I wonder if this new BF Whitney has is someone we know from Walford?”

A third penned: “Now this was a nice suprise I didn’t see coming. I hope Whitney and Zack reunite at some point – I actually really liked them together.”

In another surprise that no one saw coming, serial killer Gray Atkins, played by Toby-Alexander Smith, will return four years after he was jailed.

But producers are keeping tight-lipped about just why Gray is back.

Although his reappearance will be short, as he is still serving a long prison sentence, it is set to cause drama for more than one Walford resident.

A source said: “Gray’s return is set to be explosive. He’s got unfinished business in Walford and fans won’t see it coming.”
