Season 9 episode 9 ‘Return to Sender,’ recap
Since Karen’s pregnancy storyline has run its course this season, the main plot of season nine has shifted to focus more on the cast’s difficult relationships with their partners and problems they face individually.
One of the major relationship developments that happened during this week’s episode revolved around Zac and Fatima’s relationship, which continues to fracture and shift before them. Recently, Zac learned that Fatima confided in Danni and revealed she was relieved that it was Zac and Karen’s baby that lost its life vs Karen and Aaron’s baby. This confession left a permanent mark on Zac, and though it hasn’t been discussed between the pair, Zac set Fatima up during the episode to reveal this conversation to him.
While drama continues to affect her relationship with Zac, Fatima does her best to focus on her career, which is taking off surprisingly well. With her newfound success and interactions with men at work who are clearly attracted to her, Fatima could further chip away at her already rocky relationship with Zac. Additionally, Fatima is slowly building Andi into her enemy as her success in the law space continues to grow.
The episode also featured Karen taking yet another positive step in the right direction in her grief journey by visiting a doctor who specializes in postpartum depression. While there, Karen discussed many of her daily struggles, but specifically focused on her inability to bond with her surviving daughter, Faith.
