Tyler Perry’s Sistas | Season 9 Episode 9 Review: Return To Sender

Sistas Season 9, Episode 9 – “Return to Cinder” Review

Okay, folks. Last night’s episode of Sistas was… something else. Now, let me be real upfront: my honest rating is a 3/10. But — and this is a big but — there was one moment that made me laugh so hard I bumped it up to a 10/10 on the enjoyment scale.

That moment? Hayden realizing that Fatima might be pregnant. I needed that laugh after all the negativity online yesterday — from politics to tragic news stories — and honestly, it hit at the right time. So yeah, emotional level: 10/10. Actual episode quality: 3/10.

Sabrina’s Never-Ending Drama

Let’s get the weakest part out of the way: Sabrina.

That last one? I muted it. I know, unprofessional for a commentator, but I just don’t care anymore. Sabrina invited a random stranger (Frank) into her home even after Paige warned her not to. Surprise, he’s a problem. She has to call Maurice to drag him out. Then she literally kicks him out after he eats her cereal.

The only mildly funny bit? Sabrina nudging Frank awake with her fuzzy slippers. That got a chuckle. But otherwise — filler.

And yes, the promo teases Rock (Danni’s cousin) potentially hooking up with Sabrina. Called it months ago. Still don’t care.

Danni & Tony

Next, we’ve got Danni, who’s upset her man isn’t working. Tony pushes back, reminding her he’s been working since age 14 and literally hasn’t had more than a couple days of rest in his life.

But the real problem? He’s lounging around her place instead of his own. That’s the difference.

Then we get Leonard (ugh) harassing Danni at the airport again. Why is he even still there after everything that’s gone down? Makes zero sense. Later, Tony eats Danni’s lunch, Rock shows up at her house, and the whole storyline feels like a bad rerun.

Karen’s Emotional Spiral

Now here’s where things got heavy. Andy is pushing Karen to take legal action against Dr. Cruz, citing justice and accountability. But Karen drops a truth bomb:

“What’s the point? Even if we win, it won’t bring my baby back.”

That hit me. Sometimes the fight for justice isn’t what the grieving person wants. Karen is clearly numb, possibly depressed, and even skipped her baby’s first pediatrician appointment. Miss Lisa had to take the child instead.

Later, Dr. Bond suggests therapy, exercise, or even just a walk to help her heal. But Karen’s face says it all — she’s ready to walk away from everything. This is setting up her “missing person” storyline for the midseason finale, no doubt.

Andy & Fatima (and Jealousy)

At the law firm, Andy notices all the flowers in Fatima’s office. Cue jealousy. Instead of being supportive, Andy scolds her for not informing her about the gifts. Then Hayden (yes, Hayden) ends up being the voice of reason, warning Fatima that Andy’s jealousy could cost her job.

When Hayden teased Fatima about being pregnant, her reaction was priceless — easily the funniest part of the episode.

Zach, Fatima & Chaz

Meanwhile, Zach is still unemployed (two seasons and counting) and insecure. Fatima sees a golden opportunity: Chaz, the basketball star, wants to buy real estate, and who better than her fiancé to handle it? Double win for the household.

But instead of being grateful, Zach spirals. Chaz sends Fatima an expensive designer bag (rumored to cost over $10,000), and Zach takes it as a personal insult. He’s ready to confront Chaz instead of seizing the business opportunity.

This storyline could blow up in his face — not just personally, but professionally. If Zach fights Chaz and things go public, it could tank Fatima’s career and embarrass the law firm.

Final Thoughts

This episode was a rollercoaster:

  • Sabrina & Danni’s plots? Weak filler.

  • Karen’s storyline? Heavy but compelling.

  • Andy’s jealousy? Annoying but realistic.

  • Hayden as comic relief? Shockingly effective.

  • Zach & Fatima drama? Messy but interesting.

Overall, Return to Cinder was a 3/10 episode, saved only by Hayden’s hilarious “pregnant” line, which pushed the enjoyment factor to a personal 10.
