Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas | This Series Is Great Because ALL of The Sistas Have A Story!

🎥 DIVORCE SISTERS: Is It Really Better Than SISTERS? Or Are Fans Overhyping It?
Hey everyone! Welcome back to the channel!
So… we’re only three episodes into Divorce Sisters, and already I’m seeing a lot of people online saying it’s better than Sisters.
Yes… after just THREE episodes.
Now, I did a video about a week ago asking if the show was being overhyped, and honestly… it’s time for an update.
🌟 Is It Just Recency Bias?
Let’s be real—part of this could just be recency bias.
Divorce Sisters is the new, shiny thing on the shelf. Whenever something new drops, people love to declare the old stuff dead and buried.
But… I also think there’s more to the conversation than that.
🆚 Are They Even Fair to Compare?
First off…
Is it even fair to compare Divorce Sisters to Sisters?
I mean, aside from the obvious title similarities and the whole “group of Black women friends navigating life and love” theme… these are actually two VERY different shows at their core.
Divorce Sisters isn’t a spinoff, and to be fair, it’s telling a different kind of story.
Where Sisters started with four women in their 30s dealing with relationships, careers, and social media drama…
Divorce Sisters is focused on women who’ve already been through marriage, divorce, and serious life stuff.
So yeah… it’s almost like Sisters is about starting the journey, while Divorce Sisters is about picking up the pieces after life hit you hard.
👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 More Mature Characters, Bigger Stakes
Out of the five women in Divorce Sisters:
-
Four have been married at some point.
-
Two are currently divorced.
-
One is just dating.
It’s a more mature cast, and the issues feel heavier.
That’s why I think some viewers are gravitating toward it.
It’s less about social media drama and more about real-life emotional fallout.
🎠Balance Between Characters: A Major Win
Another reason Divorce Sisters feels stronger (so far)…
It’s not the “Geneva Show” or the “Rashida Show.”
Every character is getting screen time.
Compare that to Sisters Season 1, where let’s be honest… it was basically The Andi Show featuring her three friends.
The entire first season was Gary, Jasmine, Morris… and the other girls popped in now and then.
Not until Season 2 did Karen, Danni, and Sabrina really start to get their own lanes.
But with Divorce Sisters, even though it’s early, all five women feel involved. Their stories are already intertwining.
🚩 But Let’s Not Crown It Too Soon…
That said… I’m not ready to give Tyler Perry a full standing ovation just yet.
Why?
Because history has shown us that Tyler knows how to write a strong start…
…then suddenly shift into lazy, repetitive storylines once he feels like the audience is hooked.
(We’ve all seen what happened with Sisters after Season 3… 👀)
So my biggest hope?
That Divorce Sisters stays consistent and doesn’t fall into the trap of focusing on two characters while sidelining the rest.
âś… What Divorce Sisters Is Doing Right (So Far):
✔️ Giving all the characters time to shine
✔️ Dealing with real adult issues: divorce, co-parenting, blended families
✔️ Introducing complex dynamics right out the gate
❌ What I’m Wary Of:
❌ The “favorite characters” trap—where two get all the attention
❌ Rushed storylines
❌ Tyler slipping back into lazy writing once ratings come in
