Strictly star confirmed for EastEnders appearance in special Pride episode of BBC soap
STRICTLY Come Dancing star La Voix is set to make a special appearance in Walford for a Pride episode of EastEnders.
The drag performer and singer, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, will be giving a surprise performance in The Queen Vic during the episode.
In true EastEnders style, La Voix’s performance is entangled in a battle between two of Walford’s beloved drinking establishments, The Queen Victoria, and The Prince Albert.
The pubs will both be competing against each other in their celebrations for Pride.
La Voix’s scenes have already been filmed, with London Pride taking place off screen during the first week of July.
“It was an absolute joy to step onto the iconic EastEnders set and become part of a programme that means so much to so many people,” said La Voix of filming the scenes.
She continued: “Walking around Albert Square for the first time was a real pinch-me moment! Filming such a special Pride episode made the experience even more meaningful.
“To celebrate love, community and being proud of who you are on a show that has always been at the heart of British culture is something I’ll never forget.
“Everyone was so welcoming, and I can’t wait for viewers to see what’s in store.”
Ben Wadey, EastEnders Executive Producer added: “I’m delighted to welcome La Voix to Walford as we prepare to celebrate Pride, EastEnders-style.
“We hope the audience enjoy La Voix’s special guest appearance as much as everyone at EastEnders enjoyed having her in Walford.”
The confirmation comes after The Sun first revealed La Voix would be making a cameo in the soap earlier this week.
The star is a good friend of EastEnders star Harriet Thorpe, who has played Elaine Peacock, former landlady of the Albert Square pub, since 2023.
However, it was her stellar performance on Strictly that made La Voix a top choice.
A source told The Sun: “Since starring on Strictly last year, La Voix has absolutely been the Beeb’s top pick, helping them host events and even announcing the UK’s scores for Eurovision.
“So when there was discussion about a drag queen performing at Walford Pride, there was only ever one option.
“La Voix was absolutely thrilled to be asked and bosses hope viewers enjoy the fun Pride special.”
EastEnders celebrated its first Pride in 2019, with the Square hosting a parade.
