Ross Barton (Michael Parr) has been left for dead after Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) confronted him about sleeping with his wife.

Mack has known about Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) one-night stand with Ross for a while, but chose to try and ignore his bubbling hatred for his friend to focus on supporting his partner amid the investigation into Doctor Caitilin Todd (Caroline Harker).

Mackenzie could only stay quiet for so long, though. In tonight’s episode, his need for revenge saw him lure Ross to Emmerdale Farm, claiming that he needed help with a task.

Outside a barn, Ross and Mack moved some bags from a trailer. Ross definitely isn’t the sharpest tool in the box, but even he managed to work out that the task didn’t warrant two pairs of hands.

Mackenzie claimed that he just wanted to spend time with Ross, as they hadn’t done anything together for a little while. By this point, Ross had realised that his mate was hiding something, and it eventually clicked that he was brought up to the farm for a confronation about sleeping with Charity.

As expected, Ross did his best to tell Mack how sorry he was. He said that when they became friends, the secret about Charity made him feel sick. All of Ross’ words went in one of Mack’s ears and out of the other though – nothing that he could’ve said would’ve made him feel any better.

By this point, Mackenzie’s anger had reached boiling point. When Ross suggested that Charity was more to blame than he was because she wasn’t single when they slept together, Mack responded by punching him in the stomach.

The two men began to fight on the mezzanine of the barn. Risky move from Mackenzie, as Ross is a former underground boxer, but his negative emotions were clouding his ability to think logically.

The tussle ended with Ross falling over the balcony and onto a pile of bags on the floor.

If Ross fails to wake up, what will Mackenzie do next?
