Strictly Come Dancing fans believe they’ve uncovered the real reason Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope was brutally cut from the BBC show last weekend. Lewis danced off with Amber Davies in a tense bottom two, with Amber facing criticism from fans for her previous dance experience starring in West End shows.

Now, however, Reddit sleuths believe they have exposed the real reason the judges unanimously chose to save Amber. One social media user said the “real reason for tonight’s shock” is “not because the voting is rigged, not because he lost the dance-off unfairly, and also not that all viewers simply hate Lewis and would therefore never vote for him.”

The user said: “The main reason… the song and music choice in pair with this dance. I always loved watching Lewis dance, but this time I already said to my girlfriend, ‘It’s not enjoyable, this can’t get good scores’. I’m surprised they even gave him 35.

“Who chooses these music and dance combos? For the love of God I hope it was not Katya. I’m pretty sure he would been through if it was an enjoyable dance, because then at least ‘some people’ would have voted for him.”

Another user agreed: “It was almost completely down to the song and choreo because he is a capable dancer and could have scored 40 under different circumstances.”

While someone else said: “I think that piece of music, Mambo from West Side Story, is just very, very hard to dance to. I love Leonard Bernstein but (perhaps because) his music is almost deliberately obtuse and complex. I think even pros struggle to dance to it tbh.”

Someone else pointed out: “Even Katya looked frantic trying to run about and get where she needed to be, he didn’t have a hope with that routine.”

“Agreed. The music choice and choreo let him down. Whatever he performed really didn’t feel like a Salsa,” another Reddit user said.
