Paddy crushed by devastating update about Bear in Emmerdale
Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) remains deeply worried about his missing father Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) in Emmerdale.
Bear was taken to Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) farm by Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) last summer. At the time, Bear’s relationship with Paddy was broken and they weren’t communicating, which left him believing starting work for the mother and son was a far better option than living out of his car.
The vulnerability he was feeling as he arrived on the farm meant Bear wasn’t able to see that Ray and Celia were manipulating and abusing him into feeling as though he couldn’t ever leave. On a handful of occasions, Bear was faced with the prospect of leaving, but chose not to because he thought Celia and Ray were good people helping lost souls.
Over the Christmas period, Celia told her son that she was going to m.u.r.d.e.r Bear, and wanted him to k.i.l.l April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). Ray couldn’t go through with m.u.r.d.e.r.i.n.g April, but Celia took pleasure in telling her son that she had m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d Bear, who apparently suffered a great deal in his final moments.
Ray then headed to the attic where Bear and the other slaves were being kept. All he saw were Bear’s feet on the bed, but the still body left Ray convinced his mother had m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d the man he thought of as a father figure.
During these few weeks, Paddy has learnt about Bear’s ordeal through teenagers April and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle). The police are continuing to investigate the nightmare at the farm, but no-one can find Bear.
A few days ago, DS Walsh told Paddy and Dylan that her team searched the farm but couldn’t find anyone. If Bear is d.e.a.d, it suggests Ray moved his body before he was m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d himself. If he’s alive, it means Bear has ran away just like the other victims.
DC Stewart arrived to see Paddy and Dylan in tonight’s episode looking for some more information on Bear’s identity. He showed Dylan an old picture of Bear from a few years ago.
He asked if Bear still looks similar, but Dylan confirmed with sadness in his voice that the beloved Emmerdale resident now looks a lot thinner, older, and ‘broken’.
This was incredibly difficult for Paddy to hear. His dad is a former pro wrestler, and the thought of him now being a small, frail and traumatised old man was something Paddy couldn’t get his head around.
Paddy has a lot of questions but even if Bear is alive, he may not get answers to them all.
He still remains hopeful at the moment, but just how much longer will that last?
