“Just when everyone thought the danger had passed…” — George makes a shocking statement that could change everything
EastEnders fans are terrified for George as he threatens to kill again, as he grapples with his complicated grief just days after denying his father water and causing Eddie's death
EastEnders’ George Knight has threatened to kill again, just days after his actions caused the death of his father. The boxer ended last week’s episodes by denying his father, Eddie, water when he started to choke and watching him die. Now, he has also threatened the life of Mark Fowler Jr.
Throughout Monday’s episode, George was struggling with his anger at Eddie for being racist and at his girlfriend Nicola Mitchell for manipulating him into taking Eddie in so that she could get her hands on the elderly man’s money. At the end of the episode, he went to the gym to blow off some steam.
While there, he bumped into Mark. Noticing that George wasn’t feeling himself, Mark, who struggles with his own father Grant Mitchell, joked that he wasn’t “the only one with daddy issues”.
George didn’t take kindly to Mark’s jibe and suggested the two get in the ring together. Mark was apprehensive as he knew George used to be a professional boxer, but George kept pushing until Mark agreed. He even promised to pull his punches – something he quickly reneged on once they were sparring.
George went for Mark, battering him into a corner. Mark held his arms up, trying to stop George from hitting his face, but the other man wasn’t having it. As he punched Mark repeatedly, he said: “If you don’t start fighting back, I’ll kill you.”
Mark kicked into gear and landed a blow to George’s face, which knocked him unconscious. As Mark called out to him, George was left unconscious on the floor.
Fans were left terrified by the scenes, as George has chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive brain disease linked to repeated head injuries and concussions. He has previously been told that one more punch could kill him.
One fan said: “I wonder if they will return to George’s probable CTE storyline now.” Another added: “George shouldn’t be the ring, he was told one more hit could kill him!”
However, others pointed out that since George was seen in the flashforward, he must be okay. Mark is also in the flashforward so he is unlikely to be harmed because of George either.
Likewise, Ian Beale, who is currently facing a prison sentence for accidentally running over Jordan Fox, was a free man in the flashforward so he will likely either go free or only face a short stint in jail.
Though we are half way to the events of the flashforward, which takes place on 1 January 2027, there are still many questions that remain unanswered.
For instance, George and Nicola were seen in the Queen Vic, but Nicola had a bandage around her leg – the cause of her injury is still unknown. Similarly, Nicola hates Chelsea Fox in the flashforward, but we don’t yet know why.
