Fans of Emmerdale have been left speechless after uncovering Joe Tate’s famous “twins”.
ITV soap viewers will know that Joe (played by Ned Porteous) is the orphaned son of Christopher Tate (Peter Amory) and Rachel Hughes (Glenda McKay), as well as the half-brother of Noah Dingle (Jack Downham).
Joe was notably forced to flee the village in 2018, after his step-grandmother, Kim Tate (Claire King), wanted him killed. Following a confrontation with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), where Joe was punched and presumed dead, his right-hand man Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) secretly helped him go into hiding on the run.
The village bad boy made his shock return on Christmas Eve 2024, which ultimately led to the death of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).

The drama didn’t end there, as Joe also began having an affair with Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) behind her husband Billy’s (Jay Kontzle) back, as well as stealing Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) kidney, and causing the limo crash that killed Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson), Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
After stealing Butler’s Farm from under Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), Joe has since been focusing on planning his upcoming wedding to Dawn, who is also pregnant with his child.
Now, Emmerdale fans have been left speechless after uncovering Joe’s famous “twins”. A number of avid soap viewers have pointed out actor Ned Porteous’ likeness to YouTuber George Clarke, who competed on last year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
George was partnered with professional dancer Alexis Warr, with the pairing quickly impressing the judges and viewers. They made it to the final and finished as joint runners-up, behind winners Karen Carney and Carlos Gu.

Sharing the similarities between Ned and George, one Emmerdale fan wrote on Reddit: “Such a lookalike. Saw Joe Tate’s back (haven’t watched in a while) but thought his face looked familiar. Remembering his old look, they look CRAZY similar to me. Second picture is a YouTuber called George Clarke.”
Another agreed: “I was thinking the exact same, they look like twins!”
Meanwhile, someone else noticed Ned’s striking resemblance to American actor David Corenswet, who notably took on the leading role of Superman in James Gunn’s 2025 DC Universe film.
“Don’t forget David Corenswet’s current look!! Looks so much like Ned haha,” the fan commented, with another sharing: “Oh my god!!! Literally!”

Joe and Dawn’s wedding in Emmerdale could be derailed, as Dawn star Olivia Bromley is rumoured to be leaving the soap, after bosses reportedly decided to write her out.
A source previously told The Sun: “Olivia is adored by everyone at Emmerdale so the decision to axe her has not gone down well at all. She’s a popular member of the cast and if they can get rid of Olivia, then the feeling is virtually no-one is safe.”
Neither the soap or Olivia herself have confirmed the news.
