Okay, folks. This is kind of wild because I keep making follow-ups to my own videos, but this one is in reference to my earlier upload about Zatima Season 4 — specifically when I asked: “Were the first couple of episodes any good?”

The responses were mixed, but the majority of fans enjoyed week one of Season 4 (episodes 1 & 2) more than Sisters. And honestly, I get it. The tone, the vibe — they feel completely different right now.

Sisters vs. Zatima: A Tale of Two Worlds

The Zach and Fatima we’re seeing on Sisters can’t even be compared to the version we saw in Zatima’s season premiere. And that’s part of the issue.

One fan comment really nailed it:

“The problem is having both shows on at the same time. The writing for the characters is totally different.”

And that’s 100% true. Zatima didn’t really need to return when it did. Sisters was only three episodes away from wrapping up. BET could’ve easily waited until October 2nd to launch Zatima, giving fans a breather and avoiding the confusion of seeing Zach and Fatima portrayed two totally different ways on two shows airing simultaneously.

The Continuity Problem

Here’s the bigger issue: continuity (or lack thereof).

Some cast members said Zatima should be viewed as “what Zach and Fatima do off-screen during Sisters.”
Courtney later claimed Season 4 sits between Sisters Seasons 7 and 8… which doesn’t make sense now that we’ve had a four-month time jump.
Honestly, it feels like there isn’t one “series bible.” Each writer just picks and chooses what’s canon at the time.

As an anime fan, this reminds me of Dragon Ball with its split timelines — movie continuity, anime continuity, manga continuity — it’s a mess. And Tyler Perry’s universe is starting to feel the same way.

For hardcore fans like us, it’s frustrating. But imagine the casual viewer who just tunes in without dissecting interviews or timelines. No wonder so many are confused.

The Double-Edged Sword

Another fan said: “People aren’t giving Zatima a chance because of how Zach and Fatima are written in Sisters.”

That’s a fair point.

Some fans are sick of Sisters and look to Zatima for a breath of fresh air.
But others feel burned by Zatima Season 3 (which I’ve called the worst season yet) and are hesitant to trust Season 4.

Personally, I thought Season 3 dragged Fatima down and gaslit Zach into oblivion. But to give credit where it’s due, Leslie and Malachi saved the show for me in the final two episodes. Their presence made me want to give Season 4 a chance.

Why Fans Feel Burned Out

Season 3 was exhausting. Every problem circled back to Zach, with everyone dogpiling on him while Fatima got a free pass. The double standard was glaring.

If Zach had done half of what Fatima did in Season 3, fans would’ve canceled him on sight.
Instead, he was constantly told to “calm down” — even when Jeremiah put Fatima in danger (again).

It’s no wonder viewers are tired of seeing Zach carry all the blame.

My Honest Take on Season 4 So Far

No, I’m not “done” with Zatima. I didn’t love Season 3, but I’m intrigued by where Courtney takes Season 4.

Episodes 1 & 2 weren’t amazing, but they served their purpose:

Episode 1 was basically a Season 3 epilogue.
Episode 2, with the four-month time jump, set the stage for what’s next.

Right now, I’d give them a 6 or 7 out of 10. But I’m hoping this week’s episodes push the story forward and bump those scores higher.

Final Thoughts

I’ll say this: I may not sugarcoat my reviews, but I’m still invested. If I didn’t care, I simply wouldn’t watch.

I get why morale in the fanbase is low.
I get why some people think I’m “done with Zatima.”
But truthfully, I’m not. I just refuse to pretend it’s flawless.

So, let’s see how Season 4 unfolds. Hopefully, this isn’t a repeat of Season 3 — because, Lord knows, I don’t have the energy for that again.
