“Gabby’s Next Chapter Will Shock Even Long-Time Fans…” — Emmerdale Star Teases A Dark Storyline The Soap Has ‘Never Done Before’
EMMERDALE’s Gabby Thomas actress Rosie Bentham has shared details of the character’s dark new storyline – revealing it’s something never done in soapland before.
Back in May, show bosses confirmed Gabby was set for a harrowing storyline which is based around obsessing over food.
And looking ahead to the “heartbreaking” plot, Rosie told The Sun it’s set to “hit home” for many viewers.
“Gabby has a story coming up with lots of things going on, it’s heartbreaking but also so exciting to cover something that’s never been covered in soap before,” said Rosie.
Speaking on the red carpet at the TRIC Awards, she continued: “This is Gabby’s story and, like I said, something that’s never ever been touched on in soap before.
“It’s so relevant today with social media and everything that’s going on.
“I think people that don’t even watch soaps normally are going to want to tune in because it’s so unique and really going to hit home for a lot of viewers.”
The storyline will see Rosie’s character Gabby, who has been in the Dales since 2016, become obsessed with healthy eating.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw confirmed earlier this year that what starts as a health kick for Gabby turns into a dark obsession.
It comes after Gabby has long been unlucky in love, following a failed marriage to Vinny Dingle, betrayed by Nicky Miligan and rejected by Ross Barton.
Rosie continued: “You have to get in the zone and really put yourself in the character’s position.
“And Gabby’s position has been quite tough recently, she’s been heartbroken and just rejected by loads of men.
“So now she’s taking control of her life, but how far is too far with that kind of thing?”.
Rosie’s passion for the new storyline also seemingly rubbishes fears she was set to quit the soap.
Back in May, the star announced she has a role in Mansfield Palace Theatre’s Christmas 2026 pantomime.
With Rosie busy rehearsing and performing at Nottingham venue – her home turf – fans feared it would clash with filming on the Dales.
But with the star confirming her excitement for a bigger storyline, she doesn’t appear to be heading off anytime soon.
