Five Years On, Sylvia Jeffreys’ Emotional Words Return as a Beautiful New Chapter Unfolds
Almost five years before announcing that her family was growing again, Sylvia Jeffreys made a deeply personal admission about a part of her motherhood journey she wasn’t ready to leave behind. Now, as she and Peter Stefanovic prepare to welcome their third child, those old words have quietly resurfaced — carrying a new emotional weight after everything that came before.

Nearly five years before Sylvia Jeffreys shared the joyful news that her family was growing again, the Today Extra host made a deeply personal admission about what the future might hold.
At the time, those words came at the end of an emotional journey through motherhood — one shaped by uncertainty, gratitude and an experience Sylvia had spoken openly about.
Now, following the announcement that she and husband Peter Stefanovic are expecting their third child, that old admission has quietly taken on a new significance.
A difficult road before becoming a mother

Sylvia and Peter welcomed their first son, Oscar, in 2020 after going through IVF, with Sylvia later speaking candidly about the challenges they faced while trying to start a family.
Their story then took an unexpected turn.
Only months after Oscar’s arrival, Sylvia became pregnant naturally with their second son, Henry. She later described the pregnancy as spontaneous and spoke of the gratitude she felt after the more difficult road she had experienced the first time. Henry was born in April 2021, making the couple a family of four.
But later that same year, Sylvia revealed there was still one deeply personal part of their IVF journey she was not yet ready to close.
The words that have resurfaced five years later
Speaking to 9Honey Parenting in October 2021 about IVF and the possibility of another child, Sylvia revealed that the couple still had embryos remaining.
“We’ll hold on to them for now,” she said, adding that she was “not ready to let go of those little embryos just yet.”
At the time, it was simply an honest reflection on a deeply personal decision and an uncertain future.
Almost five years later, those words have resurfaced at a particularly emotional moment.
Sylvia and Peter announced on Sunday that baby number three is on the way, with their sons Oscar and Henry helping reveal that the newest member of the family will be a girl.
A new chapter for the family

The couple shared their excitement in a family announcement showing their boys embracing their new roles as big brothers.
For Sylvia, the news adds another chapter to a motherhood journey that once carried considerable uncertainty — making her words from 2021 particularly poignant in hindsight.
There is no public confirmation that Sylvia’s current pregnancy is connected to the embryos she discussed in 2021, and the two should not be assumed to be linked.
But placed alongside everything she has previously shared about becoming a mother, that five-year-old admission offers a moving glimpse of just how much her family’s story has changed.
