Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle faces further chaos after suffering a vicious assault from homophobic Mike, someone he encountered online whilst believing he could become a trusted mate.
During Tuesday’s episode in the Dales (August 12), Vinny (played by Bradley Johnson) discovered that Mike (Macaulay Cooper), whom he’d connected with through a support group for individuals exploring their sexuality, wasn’t the understanding person he’d initially seemed.
In a startling revelation, Mike disclosed he’d been secretly filming his chats with Vinny, and threatened to reveal everything to Vinny’s bride-to-be Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) unless he handed over money.
Before long, Mike delivered a savage beating to Vinny, who gave in to the extortion scheme to avoid further violence and keep his sexual identity questions private.
On Wednesday (August 13), Vinny was struggling with pain whilst desperately attempting to hide his wounds from the assault, reports Belfast Live.
His situation deteriorated when Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) confronted him, mocking him about obeying soon-to-be bride Gabby’s commands and telling him to “man up”, causing Vinny to lose his temper and sparking a confrontation.
Subsequently, Kammy visited Vinny and could tell his friend was suffering both physically and emotionally, though Vinny refused to reveal his traumatic experience with Mike.
In upcoming Emmerdale episodes, Gabby attempts to convince Vinny to report Kammy to the authorities, but he remains tormented by his shame.
However, when Gabby’s altered wedding rings are delivered, she notices they aren’t the genuine article, prompting Vinny to admit he’d misplaced them. Attempting to put his ordeal behind him, Vinny tries to move on after Mike’s betrayal.
However, it seems the drama isn’t over yet as Vinny is left shocked when the police show up at the scrapyard.
They question Vinny about a man named Graham, who also uses the alias Mike.
Despite Vinny having paid for his silence, the police are probing ‘Mike’ for extortion. Will Vinny reveal the truth to Gabby?
