Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has shared an emotional update with fans after announcing her "last day"

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has made a “last day” announcement in an emotional update. The 38-year-old star, who has portrayed Tracy Robinson on the ITV soap opera since 2014, was originally brought in as a romantic prospect for Sam Dingle (James Hooton).

Throughout her tenure in the Dales, Amy has featured in numerous significant plot lines. Her character Tracy has notably experienced the loss of her father Frank Clayton (Michael Praed), engaged in a romantic affair with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), and was involved in last year’s devastating limousine accident. The shop assistant also suffered the loss of her spouse Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who was killed by murderer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in September 2024.

During her time on the ITV programme, Amy has received multiple award nominations for her performance as Tracy. These include a nod for Serial Drama Performance at the 25th National Television Awards, alongside Best Actress recognition at the 2021 Inside Soap Awards and Best Soap Performance at the I Talk Telly Awards that same year, reports the Mirror.

Beyond her television work, Amy is married to former EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith. The pair, who wed in 2023, have a four-year-old daughter called Bonnie and are presently awaiting the arrival of their second baby.

On Thursday (February 5), Amy posted on her Instagram profile that she was preparing for her last filming day in Leeds ahead of her maternity break. Posting a snapshot of the ITV studios entrance, the actress penned: “Last day! Let’s do this.”

Amy provided additional updates on Friday (February 6), following a brief babymoon getaway with her husband at a Yorkshire retreat. “Played pool, chess, uno, connect 4. Disconnected. Reconnected. Talked through our labour plan. Discussed baby names. Slept. Feeling so grateful,” the star shared.

Amy subsequently showed off a delivery of baby essentials arriving at her home. Speaking directly to her followers in a separate video, she explained: “I just wanted to say thanks for your messages about kids sleeping in with you and your personal stories. It’s making me quite emotional and a lot of the sentiment is make the most of it because they’re not young for long.

“I really am, I actually love Bon sleeping in our bed, or me getting into hers, having those cuddles. I love it and I don’t wish it away at all, and I don’t even mind the lack of sleep most nights.

“But my worry at the moment is introducing a newborn into that mix. So, what happens then? So, that’s why I’m pushing her to be more independently sleeping because I know that I’m not going to be able to settle her when I have a newborn next to me, and that’s the tricky bit.”

Next week will see a plot twist involving Amy’s character Tracy and John Sudgen, who met his demise in last month’s Corriedale crossover. Fuelled by vengeance for her husband’s murderer, Tracy seizes John’s ashes with the intention of flushing them down the loo. Will she succeed in her plan?
