EMMERDALE SHOCK: A new arrival leaves them overwhelmed – but the truth behind it is even more shocking

Emmerdale bride and groom Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) take the ‘for better or for worse’ part of their vows to a whole new level.

Some things you just don’t come back from. Like planning to jilt your fiancee at the altar before fleeing to Spain with your ex-husband and your unborn baby.

Don’t get me wrong. Dawn had every reason to run. She firmly believed that Joe was the mystery attacker who jumped her ex Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) from behind in a jealous rage, resulting in a brain bleed. No wonder she was so quick to plan a new life with Billy. Joe always was the jealous type, especially after witnessing Dawn’s almost-kiss with her old flame.

Besides, Joe’s got a track record for evil. Who could forget the time he stole Caleb Milligan’s (William Ash) kidney?

Not Caleb, certainly. With the help of his very own Lady MacBeth Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), he agreed to help Dawn and Billy’s great escape by providing fake passports. This was Caleb’s ultimate revenge. Break his enemy’s heart on the happiest day of his life.

It worked far too well.

The wedding from hell ended in Joe realising Dawn’s betrayal, Dawn begging him for forgiveness as Jimmy King’s (Nick Miles) car came ploughing into the marquee, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake.

This resulted in the tragic death of Jimmy, passing away his car next to his distraught wife Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler).

Nicola and Dawn managed to get out, but Joe remained trapped inside until some fallen wreckage. The whole tent exploded, seemingly taking Joe with it.

Against all odds, he survived. It takes more than that to kill the Terrible Tate, and apparently, it takes more than wedding day betrayal to kill Joe’s relationship with Dawn, as we see in this sneak peek Emmerdale video.

After Joe was rushed to hospital on Friday, it soon became apparent that Dawn was the one who needed help when she doubled over in pain before going into labour. Must be all the stress.

Then their son was born. Now in the video, we see Joe and Dawn bonding anew over their new arrival, who rests in an incubator.

While Dawn anticipates telling the kids, the nurse would like to check up on Dawn. However, Joe insists on some alone time.

He can’t help but reflect on the surreal nature of the situation. They’ve gone from the explosion at the Marquee to this.

‘We are the lucky ones.’ Joe opines. ‘We owe it to Jimmy to make this work. You and me. That’s our future in there. And he needs us to be spectacular. We are going to surround him with so much safety and so much love.’

As she gazes at the baby, Dawn fills with guilt.

‘I am just so sorry I thought I could ever take that away from you.’

The not-quite-married couple seem reunited. But with Olivia Bromley’s exit imminent, that seems unlikely to last long. Does Dawn have a change of heart? Or is tragedy making another trip to the Dales?
