Emmerdale Nicola’s ‘spicy’ new romance ‘exposed’ and viewers are fuming

Fans of Emmerdale have predicted a shock new romance for Nicola King.
ITV soap viewers will know that Nicola (played by Nicola Wheeler) is the daughter of Rodney (Patrick Mower) and Maureen Blackstock (Joanna Monro), and the half-sister of Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles).
She is currently married to Jimmy King (Nick Miles), with whom she has a daughter, Angelica (Rebecca Bakes), and is the mother-figure to Jimmy’s other children, Elliot (Luca Hoyle) and Carl (Charlie Joyce).
Nicola has been involved in several memorable storylines over the years, including the horrific 2022 car park attack, her failed plot to kill her millionaire husband Donald De Souza (Michael Jayston), and navigating her daughter’s tragic New Year’s Eve car crash.

She also supported her family after Jimmy’s nephew, Tom (James Chase), inflicted horrific abuse on his wife, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
More recently, Nicola has had to deal with Kev Barton’s (Chris Coghill) return, who wants to get to know his son, Lewis (Bradley Riches).
Fans will know that Nicola and Ross (Michael Parr) faked a robbery at the café to try and frame Kev, so that he’d leave the village for good. But instead, Kev agreed to keep their secret from Lewis in order to continue getting to know his son. Kev is now working at the café, much to Nicola’s frustration.
Now, several Emmerdale fans believe they’ve exposed a new romance for Nicola and Kev, as the tension between them continues.
“Nicola and Kev will get together, there’s chemistry there,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page.

Another added: “Yesss, that will be a spicy one!” while a third said: “Omg I can totally see a Nicola/Kev romance.”
Nicola’s possible new romance comes ahead of the death of her love, Jimmy. It was reported earlier this year that the long-running character would soon be killed off in a jaw-dropping stunt, though the soap has yet to officially confirm the news.
A source told The Sun: “Everyone is shocked and it shows that no one is safe from the budget cuts. Bosses are under pressure to cut costs, and sadly, that means popular cast members being told their time is up.”
They added: “Once the decision was made that Nick would be leaving, the writers quickly realised his character wouldn’t abandon his wife and children, so they had to kill him off.”

Many viewers are therefore frustrated by the Nicola and Kev rumours, with one angry person writing on X (formerly Twitter): “It’s clear as day Jimmy’s being killed off to replace him in all aspects by Kev. Total disgrace.”
Another added: “Yes, it’s painful to watch,” while a third said: “I’m so mad about it. Gonna miss Jimmy and Nicola together as a couple so much.”
Someone else commented: “All these [rumours] about Nicola’s next love being the one and only-but-fabulous Kev is a bit too much. We haven’t even had the not-eagerly-awaited death of fictional hubby Jimmy yet!”
Meanwhile, others are delighted by the prospect of a Kev and Nicola romance, with one fan writing: “I prefer Kevin, and I think it’s weird how much vitriol he is getting.”
