EastEnders’ Peter Beale star teases ‘unfinished business’ with Max Branning
EXCLUSIVE: Peter Beale star Thomas Law has dropped a major hint about Max Branning’s return, teasing that their tangled past means there’s plenty of "unfinished business" ahead
EastEnders’ Thomas Law has teased that sparks could fly if Peter Beale ever comes face-to-face with Max Branning again.
Jake Wood is officially heading back to Albert Square as Max, and while the soap has kept tight-lipped about what’s in store for him, Thomas reckons the history between their characters leaves the door wide open for drama.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star at the National Television Awards, he said: “I don’t know if Peter will ever see Max again, but there will be unfinished business there if he does.”
Of course, Max’s tangled past with the Beales, from family feuds to messy relationships, means his return could cause chaos if paths do cross again. And with Peter and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) trying to rebuild their lives in Walford, there’s plenty of scope for fireworks.
Thomas recently reflected on how much he’s enjoyed being reunited with Jacqueline after her comeback in 2023. The actor couldn’t have been more glowing about his on-screen other half.
“Ah she’s special,” Thomas gushed. “It’s been special working with her again, it’s nice being back in the show. It’s much faster pace than anything I’ve ever worked on. I would say EastEnders is my favourite job. I’ve learned all my skills on EastEnders and it’s taken me to other jobs I’ve done in my life.”
The pair’s chemistry has delighted long-time fans, with their characters already at the centre of emotional storylines. Thomas explained that the Beales will continue to take centre stage in the coming months, especially as Peter and Lauren navigate the challenges of raising baby Jimmy.
“Peter’s time in the soap, it’s going to be quite interesting,” he explained. “We’ve got a lot coming up. Obviously we have baby, Jimmy, who is blind, and there are a lot of difficulties with having a child that is blind.”
While Thomas stayed tight-lipped on the exact details, he promised plenty of emotional twists ahead for Peter and Lauren, hinting that their story will strike a chord with viewers.
Fans were thrilled when both Thomas and Jacqueline returned to the Square, with many hailing their pairing as one of the most nostalgic reunions in soap history. With Max Branning back in the mix, the Beales could soon find themselves caught up in even more explosive drama.
