EastEnders has delivered the long-awaited reunion between Alfie Moon and his cousin Jake following a 20-year separation, with Danny never far from the pub landlord’s thoughts.

 

Tuesday’s episode of the BBC soap (February 10) saw Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) and Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) track down Jake Moon (Joel Beckett) to his canal boat hideaway in North London.

 

The pair received a frosty welcome from Jake, who ordered them to leave after refusing to accept that his former flame, Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman), played any part in Anthony Trueman’s (Nicholas Day) Christmas Day demise.

 

Kat attempted to convince Jake of her daughter Zoe Slater’s (Michelle Ryan) innocence in Anthony’s k.i.l.l.i.n.g and fibbed about Alfie’s condition to lure Jake back to The Queen Vic.

Fans will remember the character was killed off, or so it seemed

Alfie (Shane Richie) was stunned to see his long-lost cousin return to the Square after two decades and immediately began probing about Danny Moon, Jake’s sibling, reports OK!.

 

He enquired: “So what happens now Jake, what Danny turns up and we have a big family reunion, yeah?”

However, Jake fibbed in response: “I haven’t heard from him in ages,” hiding the truth that Danny had passed away.

How did Danny Moon d.i.e in EastEnders

Danny Moon, portrayed by Jake Maskall, was Jake’s younger sibling and Alfie’s cousin, making his Walford debut in 2004. Danny quickly found himself entangled with local mobster Johnny Allen (Billy Murray), and in 2005, he m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman) at the behest of the crime lord.

Dennis was tragically k.i.l.l.e.d while his wife, Sharon (Letitia Dean), was expecting their child, Dennis Rickman Jr.

Danny also embarked on a dangerous love affair with Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) after her tumultuous relationship with the unstable brute Andy Hunter (Michael Higgs).

 

In 2006, Jake uncovered the shocking truth that his brother Danny was responsible for Dennis’s d.e.a.t.h.

Johnny subsequently commanded Danny to assassinate Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) and his brother Phil (Steve McFadden). In a nail-biting scene, Danny attempted to shoot Grant but ended up being shot instead.

Jake, who had ventured into the woods to prevent his brother from making a grave mistake, inadvertently ended up k.i.l.l.i.n.g Danny.

Jake had planned to wound Danny in the arm or leg to protect the Mitchell Brothers, but was confronted with the grim reality of having to k.i.l.l his own sibling, a secret he had harboured for twenty years.

Phil has also kept this secret since Jake saved his brother Grant. However, with Jake’s return to Walford, will the truth about Danny’s fate be revealed as Alfie begins to probe?
