Zoe Slater is set to be reunited with her son. “I need to find my son,” Zoe Slater said over and over again on EastEnders last year. Well, buckle up, Zoe – your darling little boy is on his way to Walford.

EastEnders have finally confirmed what Zoe has been hoping for all these months (or had been until Jasmine turned up and she seemed to stop talking about her son) in Thursday’s episode, airing on 19 February. In the final cliffhanger, Cindy was about to smash up Jasmine’s phone when a call started to come through. Viewers could just about hear a male voice say: “Jasmine? It’s me, your brother, Josh.”

The credits listed the character as Josh Goodwin, played by Joshua Vaughn. Both Jasmine and Josh were adopted and fostered as children after Zoe abandoned them in the hospital, hence why neither’s last name is Slater. But since Jasmine’s is Fisher whilst Josh’s is Goodwin, it seems they may not have been taken in by the same families

With Josh on the way, he is just in time to see the aftermath of his grandmother, Kat’s, shocking betrayal, which has left the family fractured. Earlier in the week, Kat learned that Jasmine had really k.i.l.l.e.d her father, Anthony Trueman, something Zoe was in remand for. Thinking Jasmine would never own up to it, Kat called the police and had them arrest Jasmine in front of everyone at the Queen Vic, including Jasmine’s grieving grandfather, Patrick.

Since being released, Zoe has been desperately looking for Jasmine’s phone, which holds a video that proves her k.i.l.l.i.n.g Anthony was self-defence – the very same phone Cindy was about to smash.

The phone had been taken from Jasmine’s bag by Max Branning. He had been insistent that Jasmine was a bad egg and wanted to prove it to his son, Oscar, as he and Jasmine had been in a relationship. But upon seeing the video, Max became conflicted and didn’t know what to do.

Once Cindy realised that Max was the one who took it, she stole the phone from him. She told Max that she had thrown the phone down a drainpipe, when in actual fact, she had kept hold of it. Though she seemed to want to destroy it before Josh called, the older woman looked shocked after picking up the phone, and it is uncertain what she will do next.

Fans noticed Cindy’s shaken look, too. One wrote: “Cindy seems genuinely spooked that Jasmine’s got a brother.” Another added: “Cindy about to smash Jasmine’s phone with the heel of her boot [crying emoji] and then that doof doof [shocked face emoji].”

A third implored Cindy to hand the phone in to the police: “What a Doof Doof EastEnders. Do the decent thing, Cindy. Even if it’s the only time in your life…”

Other fans were sure Josh’s arrival would spell good news for Jasmine. They said: “It looks like Josh might be arriving during Jasmine’s trial and he’ll be the one who saves Jasmine from prison.”
