EastEnders airs shock return for legend as Zoe Slater’s stalker unmasked

EastEnders has unveiled a surprise comeback as the person tormenting Zoe Slater has been disclosed. Soap legend Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan) returned to the BBC One drama this year after a two-decade hiatus, only to find herself the target of a persistent stalker.

Zoe has been left rattled and fearful due to a series of threatening messages, including a chilling warning at the Christmas lights event instructing her to ‘die’.

Adding to her troubles, Zoe has been on a quest to locate her long-lost son for several months. She gave birth to twins in 2006, fathered by Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey).

Anthony’s behaviour has been peculiar, with revelations that he was slapped with a restraining order by his own wife. He also appears to be fixated on Zoe, hoarding numerous photos of his former flame on his laptop, reports OK!.

However, unbeknownst to Zoe, her daughter is actually Walford newcomer Jasmine (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), who has kept her true identity hidden despite growing close to Zoe.

In Wednesday’s dramatic episode (December 24), Zoe’s stalker was finally unmasked – and it’s not who you’d expect. During the episode, Jasmine was spotted lurking around the Queen Vic before making a phone call, insisting on a meeting.

Meanwhile, Zoe was left stunned and elated when she discovered a letter, allegedly from her long-lost son, announcing his arrival on Christmas Day.

Shortly after, Jasmine was spotted getting into a car parked in a back alley. Speaking to the unseen driver, she said: “I’ve done everything you’ve asked me for. But I’ve changed my mind I don’t think she deserves this.”

Her tormentor was revealed to be Chrissie

The plot thickened when it was revealed that the driver, and the one tormenting Zoe, was none other than Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman). She ominously told Jasmine: “Oh believe me she does. We’re going to give her a Christmas she’ll never forget.”

Long-time fans will remember Chrissie’s arrival on the soap in 2004. As Dirty Den’s (Leslie Grantham) wife, Chrissie quickly became a fan favourite, featuring in 218 episodes.

During her time on the show, she served as the landlady of the Queen Vic and was involved in numerous storylines. However, she is perhaps best remembered for the murder of her husband Den, a plot that also involved Zoe and Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).
