So far on season 9:
“Sistas” season 9 began with a life-or-death situation. When Karen’s pregnancy took a turn, Andi, Danni, Sabrina, and Fatima rushed her to the nearest hospital, despite a blackout across the city of Atlanta. When they arrived, their friend’s condition worsened, and was not taken seriously by the attending physician, Dr. Cruise.
This lack of care sparked conversations about discrimination within the United States medical system as the women advocated for their friend’s declining health. While Karen was ultimately assigned to an ethical surgeon, her prenatal crisis ended in tragedy. One of the twins — each of whom were fathered by different men, Zac and Aaron — did not make it.
During the latest episode, “One Is the Loneliest Number,” members of the group were forced to confront their personal issues following the devastation they witnessed at the hospital. Karen relished her moments asleep, finding rest her only comfort; Zac and Fatima navigated both the loss and their relationship; Tony made a major life decision regarding his career; and Andi’s own traumas resurfaced.
What to expect from episode 5:
Episode 5, “Heavy Is the Crown,” will air Wednesday, August 13 at 9 p.m. ET on BET. The next installment is likely to find Andi digging into the medical misconduct case. Last week, she received a call from Dr. Vaughn, who tipped her off to further investigate Dr. Cruise’s history of patient manipulation. Meanwhile, Sabrina focuses on rectifying betrayals; Karen’s postpartum situation worsens; Aaron and Fatima try to support Zac; and Tony and Danni prepare for changes following his recent career choice.
