Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise has made an exciting announcement and fans are thrilled.
Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise has appeared to confirm the permanent return of Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (played by Don Warrington) following his heartbreaking exit in the previous series. The Commissioner decided to leave Saint Marie at the end of series 14 after he lost his job and was replaced by someone else.
However, after he was offered his job back, Selwyn decided to reject the job offer and leave Saint Marie to go and visit his daughter in the UK.
Much to fans’ surprise, the Commissioner went on to appear in both the Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise and Beyond Paradise Christmas specials, where he reunited with Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).
And now, Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise has teased the character’s return in its latest Instagram post. Along with a clip of the Commissioner, the show wrote, “So that’s something to look forward to in the new year!”
In the clip from Beyond Paradise, Selwyn asked whether his job in Saint Marie was still available.

“Chief Commissioner, it is Selwyn Patterson,” the Commissioner stated. “Apologies for calling you during the holidays. But I wanted to know if you’ve found my replacement yet.
“I see…I have been doing some thinking, and I wondered if there was any chance of my returning to the role if it’s still vacant.”
Fans were thrilled by the latest update and rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on Selwyn’s return.
Josephine Jobert, who played Florence Cassell in the BBC drama, also left the comment, “He will always be the one and only!!!!”
One fan wrote, “Love the Commissioner!! He can NEVER leave the Show.”
