Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise dedicates episode to ‘friend and colleague’ in moving tribute

The BBC crime drama Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise paid a moving tribute to one of its colleagues in the first episode of series 15 on Friday night

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise aired a touching tribute to one of its team members on Friday night as the first episode of series 15 was broadcast. The episode concluded with an image of Commissioning Editor Danielle Scott-Haughton and the words, “Dedicated with love to our friend and colleague.”

 

In early January, the tragic news broke that Danielle had died at the tender age of 37. The British Blacklist initially reported the sad news, which was then shared by the official Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise Instagram account.

 

The BBC crime drama posted a heartfelt tribute to Danielle on their Instagram Story at the time.

 

The post read: “We were devastated to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Danielle Scott-Haughton. Dani was the BBC Commissioning Editor for Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise and Beyond Paradise and was a passionate champion of both shows, as well as every programme she worked on.

“Her energy and joy were impossible to articulate, but they were palpable each time she visited our shoots, and working with her was a wonderful collaboration. Her enthusiasm, positivity, and determination to not only make every project the best it could be, but also to care for the people and world around her, were infectious and inspiring,” reports the Express.

“We will all miss her enormously. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult and very sad time,” the post concluded.

The British Blacklist shared a poignant tribute to the BBC producer alongside a collection of her photos.

The heartfelt post read: “We are heartbroken to share the passing of Danielle Scott-Haughton, a brilliant BBC Commissioning Editor, producer, and a cherished friend of The British Blacklist and the wider Black British creative community.

“Danielle truly showed up. In action, care, and belief. She was a steadfast supporter of Black creatives, Black stories, and Black-led platforms, always believing our stories deserved space, scale, and respect.”

Tributes also flooded in online at the time, with Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise detective Don Gilet expressing his condolences.

Radio host Clara Amfo also wrote on social media, “We love her beyond measure.”

As Commissioning Editor, Drama at the BBC, she played a significant role in many popular shows on the corporation, including EastEnders, Just Act Normal, Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, and Beyond Paradise, where she served as executive producer on the BBC’s contribution.

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise will be back next Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
