“Cain Finally Says What Nobody Wanted To Hear…” — Fans Admit They Were Left ‘Crying’ By His Big Announcement
Emmerdale favourite Cain Dingle has confirmed a shake-up to his health diagnosis
Emmerdale has confirmed a health twist for Cain Dingle after he refused further treatment for his cancer diagnosis.
Following a radical prostatectomy, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and his wife, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), were given the devastating news that his cancer had spread.
His consultant recommended further treatment, such as radiotherapy, which he fiercely refused. Cain argued over the quality of life he faces due to treatment and did not want to put his family through the heartache of watching him suffer.
However, it appears Cain is now agreeing to the hospital treatment plan after the Dingles’ much-loved dog, Monty, also faces cancer.
On Wednesday (July 8), Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) called round to Wishing Well and updated them on their dog, Monty, who had inhaled smoke following a fire started by Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).
He confirmed the pet had a metastatic tumor, with Cain immediately acting defensive as the vet explained that Monty would have a decent quality of life with the right treatment.
“There is a tumour on his spleen that’s spread to the lungs, which is why the smoke inhalation knocked him for six,” Paddy added.
Sam chipped in: “He’s going to die then,” as Paddy nodded his head in agreement. He later confirmed: “It’s quite an aggressive form”, as Lydia asked: “Would he have any quality of life?”
“There will be good moments. Give the right treatments, and we can keep him comfortable”, Paddy added.
Cain responded: “Being comfortable isn’t the same as living, though, is it?”, as if he was referring to himself.
Shortly afterward, Cain picked Monty up from the veterinary practice, where Paddy urged him to give his faithful companion more time and cherish every moment they had together.
“Dad wouldn’t let Monty go without one last knees-up, so we give him more time,” he said.
“And when he starts struggling…” Belle began, with Cain assuring they would stop the moment it got too uncomfortable for Monty.
“Then maybe we can all agree about something else…” he then said tentatively, hinting at having reconsidered doing radiotherapy for his prostate cancer.
“When the time comes, if I need it, I’m gonna have it,” he said as Moira got emotional. “Someone’s made me realise I’ve got options. And I should take them whilst I still can,” he concluded, as Moira hugged him.
Cain’s announcement left his loved ones overjoyed and viewers very emotional.
Taking to X, one Emmerdale fan wrote: “Cain has agreed to have Radiotherapy (clapping hands).”
A second stated: “The scenes with Cain and Monty”, followed by a crying face, while a third chimed in: I’m glad Cain has agreed to have radiotherapy #Emmerdale.”
Cain coming to the realisation that he needs his treatment (crying emojis). Moira was so relieved, and Cain needed that hug from Moira”, said one person.
One emotional viewer added: “That brought a tear. The nose touch and the kiss. My heart”, as a second wrote: “Cain and Monty are breaking me tonight crying face.”
