Brooklyn Ross Reveals Jackie O’s Private Reaction to His Kyle Sandilands Move — As More of the Story Slowly Emerges

Brooklyn Ross says Jackie O supported his decision to join Kyle Sandilands despite the difficult circumstances surrounding their former show. But his most revealing comment was about what hasn’t yet been said — suggesting Jackie may eventually tell her own side of the story.

Brooklyn Ross Reveals Jackie O’s Reaction to Joining Kyle Sandilands — As He Hints Her Side of the Story Is Still to Come

For Brooklyn Ross, joining Kyle Sandilands’ new subscription show was never simply another career move.

The former Kyle and Jackie O Show newsreader had spent more than a decade working alongside Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson, becoming not only part of the program but also a close friend of both hosts.

That made one conversation particularly difficult when Ross decided to reunite professionally with Sandilands.

Speaking on The Kylecast, Ross has now revealed how Henderson reacted to the news — while also addressing the perception that his move meant he had chosen one side following the breakdown of the longtime radio partnership.

A conversation Ross wasn’t sure how Jackie would take

Ross admitted he had been nervous about telling Henderson he intended to join Kyle Sandilands Live.

“It was tough … just because I didn’t know what her reaction [would be], and she is such a great friend of mine and we’re so close,” he told host Bella Frizza.

Instead of objecting to the decision, Ross said Henderson made it clear she supported his career.

According to Ross, she told him that if he believed it was the best opportunity for him, she understood why he wanted to take it.

“She said, you know, ‘go for it’,” Ross recalled.

Despite that response, Ross said the choice remained emotionally complicated because of his relationship with both former hosts.

“Like I am not taking sides or trying to show support to one or the other,” he said.

He described the situation with a striking comparison: “I really feel like I’m a child in the middle of a divorce.”

Ross defends Jackie amid questions over how the show ended

Ross also used the interview to push back against some of the commentary surrounding Henderson following her February on-air clash with Sandilands.

He said Henderson had “copped a bit of unnecessary heat” over suggestions she had intentionally contributed to the end of the program.

“That actually wasn’t her intention at all,” Ross said.

According to Ross, Henderson had never wanted the Kyle and Jackie O Show itself to disappear, regardless of whatever was happening privately between the two longtime hosts.

He said she was surprised by the way events unfolded and “didn’t want to take that away from Kyle”.

“She will, one day”

Perhaps the most revealing part of Ross’ comments concerned what has yet to be heard.

While acknowledging that many people have spoken publicly about Henderson and the breakdown of the radio partnership, Ross suggested the broadcaster has not yet fully explained her own perspective.

“A lot of people talk about Jackie and I want her to tell her own story, and she will, one day,” he said.

“It’s tough at the moment … but she will eventually say it all.”

Ross did not reveal what Henderson might ultimately disclose, meaning any further explanation remains hers to give.

A last-minute move to Sandilands’ new venture

Ross’ appearance on Kyle Sandilands Live came only days before the subscriber-only program launched.

He later confirmed Sandilands had become involved behind the scenes to help make his participation possible.

Sandilands himself claimed during the new program that he had made a phone call to senior figures connected with Ross’ former employer to get the situation resolved.

Ross described his former boss as pulling “his behind the scenes strings”, adding that he was appreciative of the intervention.

The broadcaster also reflected fondly on his 12 years with The Kyle and Jackie O Show, saying he had expected the program to continue for years longer.

A difficult first week for the new show

The personal revelations arrive after a challenging launch for Kyle Sandilands Live.

Technical problems affected several broadcasts during its opening week, with Friday’s edition eventually abandoned partway through after repeated difficulties.

Ross and executive producer Jaimee “Mayo” Blazquez later apologised to subscribers in a video.

“We were scared this day might come,” Ross said.

Blazquez explained that the team decided continuing to repeatedly return and disappear from air risked frustrating viewers further.

She said new equipment had been ordered and the team planned to use the weekend to address the problems before returning.

For Ross, however, the bigger story surrounding his move may not simply be where he now sits professionally.

His comments have instead offered a rare glimpse into his continuing relationship with Henderson — and raised the possibility that one of the central figures in the radio fallout still has much more she wants to say.
