BBC Death in Paradise star lands role in Midsomer Murders after major transformation
Death in Paradise fans will be thrilled by the announcement.
Death in Paradise star Jinny Holder has landed a role in Midsomer Murders in an exciting announcement. Jinny, who plays Darlene Curtis in the BBC series, will appear in series 24 of the ITV drama alongside Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix.
Jinny will play the character of Lila Blundell in an episode titled The Devil’s Work. The synopsis for the instalment teases, “The beautiful Stourwick Estate is set in the quintessential English countryside, its centrepiece being the magnificent Stourwick Hall – an Elizabethan stately home owned and occupied by the Shirewell family since 1588.
“But Stourwick Hall is divided – much like the family itself. The old Stable has been transformed by the bohemian heir to the estate, Lucian Shirewell, into a ceramics studio. His traditionalist younger brother, Francis, is in the Dower House with his insufferable wife, Davina, while their elder sister, Ursula, is in the main house caring for their dying father, Henry.
“An unlikely ‘Lord of the Manor’, Lucian is an acclaimed avant-garde ceramicist who has always been the black sheep of the family. But ancient families like his thrive on tradition, and his refusal to toe the line has made him unpopular. He loathes his father and holds him responsible for his mother, Clarrisa’s, tragic death nearly 40 years prior.”
Following the death of their father, Lucian gathers his siblings for a meeting, where he announces that his tenure at Stourwick will be the Shirewells’ last. Lucian’s radical plans include removing his siblings from the estate immediately.

The synopsis goes on, “So when an incriminating letter is found among their father’s belongings, foul play is suspected. Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and Winter (Nick Hendrix) are called to the estate, and Lucian is the prime suspect.
“But is someone desperate to frame Lucian in order to regain control of the estate? The pressure is on to unearth the secrets of this reclusive family.
“Barnaby’s job is not made any easier as Sarah and Betty arrive at the estate after the local community is invited for an open day. With his family and the case merging, can he ensure that everyone is safe?”
Jinny Holder began as a civilian and love interest for Officer Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) in Death in Paradise. She later returned to the series as a trainee police officer and eventually became a full officer.

She is a current and vital part of the main cast, known for her dedication to cases and local connections that aid the team.
Her character brings energy to the team, and she often encourages her colleagues to step outside their comfort zones and enjoy life
While she didn’t get along with the show’s new detective, Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet), at first, Darlene seems to have warmed to his unconventional ways of solving crimes.
Jinny will also be back on screens later this month as the Death in Paradise Christmas special airs.
