Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic Share Joyful Family News — As Their Sons Prepare for a Special New Chapter

Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic are preparing to expand their family, with the television couple revealing they are expecting their third child.

The Today Extra presenter, 40, and Stefanovic, 44, shared the news on social media on Sunday morning alongside a family photo featuring their sons Oscar, six, and Henry, five.

But the announcement also came with another surprise: after welcoming two boys, the couple revealed their third child will be a daughter.

A new role for Oscar and Henry

Jeffreys said the boys were already embracing the idea of becoming big brothers again.

“Number 3 is on the way and the boys are already taking their big bro duties seriously,” she wrote, before inviting followers to see the moment Oscar discovered he would soon have a little sister.

The presenter joked that the newest member of the family may need to become comfortable with sporting clothes passed down from her brothers.

The announcement quickly drew warm reactions from several familiar television personalities.

Samantha Armytage congratulated Sylvia and Peter on the news, while Leila McKinnon enthusiastically predicted a future as a “netball mum”. Lauren Tomasi also joined those sending their best wishes to the family.

Nearly a decade since Sylvia and Peter married

Jeffreys and Stefanovic married at Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley on April 1, 2017.

They welcomed their first son, Oscar, in February 2020. Eight months later, Jeffreys announced she was expecting their second child, Henry.

Their latest announcement now begins another chapter for the family — and brings a daughter into a household that has so far been home to two young boys.

The news comes during a busy period for Sylvia

The personal milestone arrives while Jeffreys has also been taking on an expanded television role.

She recently stepped in on Today while regular presenter Sarah Abo is on maternity leave, appearing alongside Tom Steinfort during Nine’s ongoing hosting changes.

The network has been trialling different combinations since Karl Stefanovic — Sylvia’s brother-in-law — left the breakfast program in June.

Reports have since suggested Steinfort and Samantha Armytage are being considered for permanent roles following a ratings lift during their recent appearances together.

For now, however, Sylvia’s biggest new chapter is unfolding away from the television desk, as she and Peter prepare to become parents for the third time.
