EastEnders has aired more worrying scenes for the Beales as one couple’s marriage is being torn apart by Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple).

During Tuesday’s (August 4) visit to Albert Square, Peter Beale (Thomas Law) was left fuming after noticing a flirtatious moment between his wife, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), and his distant cousin, Mark.

Although Peter is unaware that his wife has already kissed Mark before she vowed to stay away from him in favour of keeping her family together, he sensed something was happening between the pair.

When the market trader confronted Lauren about her antics towards Mark, she became flustered and promised Peter that there was “nothing going on with anyone.”

But he remained unconvinced, forcing Lauren to confess she had been working with Mark to flog stolen cars at the car lot.

Peter was shocked by his wife’s deceit and blurted out: “How dare you do this to us? My dad’s already in jail, and you’re literally running around, risking everything for a few extra quid.”

He fumed: “Why do you always go off and just do things on your own, not involve me, and then just lie to me, over and over?”

Citing a breach of trust and not wanting to spend time with him or their two sons, Peter packed Lauren’s bag and demanded that she stay with Penny Branning (Kittle Castledine).

On Wednesday, the fallout between Lauren and Peter continued as he struggled with her absence from their family home. But it was Penny who pushed Lauren to be honest about how she really felt about Mark, leaving her torn.

Using Peter and Lauren’s separation to his advantage, Mark tried his luck once more and was delighted when Lauren suggested they meet later at the Boxing Den to talk.

When she arrived, Mark was full of charm, leaving Lauren frustrated.

“Is this all just a joke to you?” she asked. “Mark, I have lost absolutely everything, for what, a little bit of extra cash in my back pocket?”

Mark apologised and tried to embrace Lauren, who told him: “Don’t be nice to me, don’t make it harder than it needs to be.”

She added: “I’m not going to stand her and say that I don’t have any feelings, I do, I feel it. Every single time I see you, I feel it. Those feelings don’t matter, my boys, they matter.”

Lauren then demanded that Mark leave Walford permanently, but will he listen? And will Lauren and Peter manage to reconcile?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
