Popular soap Emmerdale looks set to lose another long-serving cast member.

It has been reported that Jack Downham, who has played Noah Dingle since he was six years old is set to exit the ITV hit soap after 17 years.

According to a report in The Sun, the actor has already filmed his final scenes and will leave on screen in the coming weeks.

The star will become the latest member of the Dingle clan to be cut from the programme amid cost-saving measures.

A source told the publication that Jack is “looking at the positives though and is hopeful about future opportunities.

ITV told the Daily Star they didn’t comment on stars’ contract.

The ITV show has a long-standing policy of not announcing most cast departures to avoid spoiling storyline outcomes.

Noah is the son of Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Chris Tate (Peter Amory) and has featured in numerous major storylines during that period. In total, the actor has appeared in more than 800 episodes of the programme.

Speaking to Inside Soap in 2021, Jack spoke about his experiences growing up on our screens.

“I’ve loved it,” he explained at the time. “It’s quite strange to be around adults all the time, but I think it’s helped me mature in a lot of ways.

“On the other hand, I’ve missed out on my fair share of events and things with friends my own age, but it’s all part and parcel of having such a great opportunity.”

He added: “The constant drama is a great part of it. There’s always something going on. Plus, everyone who plays a part in the Dingle family is so nice to work with.

“I’ve definitely learnt so much from Emma (Atkins) and she’s always looked after me.”

Multiple cast members have left the soap in recent months, with Jack set to follow his fellow Dingle family member Bradley Johnson, who portrays Vinny, in leaving.

Other significant departures this year include Nick Miles, who has portrayed Jimmy King for 22 years, and Dawn Taylor actress Olivia Bromley.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
