It’s bad news for Emmerdale fans as further disruptions are set to hit the ITV hit soap. The soap has been pulled off air tonight (June 24) to make way for the broadcaster’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It’s not the only show to be hit with a schedule shake-up as rival soap Coronation Street will also be missing from your TV screens this evening.

Earlier this year, viewers saw both Coronation Street and Emmerdale move to a new scheduling pattern. Emmerdale airs 30-minute long episodes from Monday to Friday at 8pm. This is followed by 30-minute Coronation Street episodes at 8.30pm. Both soaps are available to watch from 7am on ITVX.

Soap fans will soon be back in the Dales and Weatherfield as ITV confirmed that both shows will return tomorrow (25 June) and will have an hour-long instalment.

Emmerdale kicks off at 8pm, with Corrie following at 9pm. Unfortunately, there’s another alteration on Friday (26 June) as ITV covers Norway vs France, and further coverage of the tournament across Sunday and Monday (28 and 29 June).

After Thursday’s instalments, the soaps aren’t due to return until Tuesday (30 June). In Emmerdale, Charity Dingle comes clean to husband Mackenzie Boyd about her ongoing turmoil.

Dr Todd recently fled the village after sexually assaulting Charity in horrific scenes. Todd had been blackmailing Charity over her baby secret, after finding out baby Leyla was her child, and not Sarah Sugden’s.

After forcing Charity to give her cash, she wasn’t happy when Charity stood up to her. With Charity drunk, Todd cruelly raped her before lying about the ordeal.

On Tuesday (June 24) Charity was at breaking point. New character Serena Sugden came to her aid, and Charity poured everything out to her, telling her about the assault, baby Leyla and the blackmail.

Serena told Charity that the only option was to report the blackmail and expose Todd, but she told her how to do it. Guiding her, Serena told Charity that any messages between them would be evidence of the exploitation.

Emmerdale returns Thursday, June 25 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
