“ITV’s Unexpected Move Has Left Emmerdale Fans Stunned…” — Here’s Why It’s Missing From 8pm And When The Drama Returns
There is huge disruption to Emmerdale's schedule coming this week
The Emmerdale schedule is all over the place again this week as football causes disruption, but we’ve got you covered – here’s all the information you need about the changes to tonight’s episode (Wednesday June 24)
ITV has been making regular changes to its soap line-up thanks to sport and special programming, and June is proving no different. If you’re wondering when Emmerdale is back on screen and whether you’ll be able to watch it on ITVX, here’s everything you need to know.

Is Emmerdale on tonight and can you watch it on ITVX?
On Wednesday June 24 Emmerdale is not on at all. Coronation Street, which usually follows is also off air.
Viewers who usually find Emmerdale and Coronation Street on ITVX or YouTube at 7am every morning are also set to be disappointed. As there are no episodes on tonight, nothing new has been released online either.
The soaps will both return for hour-long episodes on Thursday (June 25). Friday (June 26) will see them taken off air again.
With football, rugby and other live events continuing to dominate parts of the ITV schedule, soap fans have become increasingly used to checking transmission times. Some viewers have even suggested ITV should move the soap power hour earlier in the evening to reduce the number of clashes.

What happens in Emmerdale tonight?
Emmerdale is packed with drama on Thursday night as Charity prepares to reveal her devastating secret. After reaching breaking point and fleeing the village earlier this week, Charity has returned home and made a huge decision.
She tells Mack she’s ready to tell him everything, but will she really reveal the full extent of what’s happened? And once Mack learns the truth, how will he react?
Elsewhere, Lewis remains trapped in Kylie’s bedroom and his fear is only growing. Convinced his kidnapper could kill him at any moment, Lewis desperately tries to escape. But when his plan fails, he finds himself right back where he started.
Meanwhile, Ross is taking matters into his own hands. With Kev unconscious, he heads off to meet Kylie in the hope of securing Lewis’ freedom.
Caleb is determined to get answers after discovering the scam and confronts Archie. Archie wastes no time pointing the finger at Kerry, insisting she is the one responsible. However, Kerry tells a very different story and insists Archie is the guilty party.
Caleb decides enough is enough and declares he is calling the police. But Kerry isn’t about to let that happen and she fires back with a threat of her own that could leave Caleb with a difficult decision to make.
Finally, there’s a blast from the past at Emmerdale Farm when Serena Sugden arrives unexpectedly.

ITV’s soap power hour remains popular
ITV launched its new soap ‘power hour’ in January 2026. It keeps Emmerdale on air five nights a week while continuing the 7am ITVX releases.
The soap also moved to its current 8pm slot, while the former Thursday double bill was reduced to a single half-hour episode to allow for extra Coronation Street content.
The shorter format has proved popular with many viewers. It offers quicker-paced episodes that are easier to fit into busy evenings.
One thing the schedule overhaul hasn’t solved, however, is the ongoing disruption caused by major sporting events. So for now, like tonight, Emmerdale fans may still need to keep one eye on the TV guide before settling down for a night in the Dales.
