Pushed out Vinny commits to Penny unaware of the agony to come in EastEnders

EastEnders’ Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) has been covering up lies about her unborn baby’s real paternity for months now, believing her future lies with Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota).

But when cracks start to show in their relationship next week, Vinny takes action to commit to Penny, unaware of the agony that lies ahead.

Earlier this year, Penny was stunned to learn that her pregnancy was further along than she’d first thought, ruling Vinny out as the father.

It was later revealed that Penny actually had a secret fling with former flame Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) before Christmas.

Penny toyed with what to do next, but with Harry currently loved up with her best mate Gina Knight (Francesca Henry), and Vinny being a reliable and loving partner, she decided to keep things a secret.

However, when Harry’s mum Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) later managed to work out the truth, she issued Penny with an ultimatum – to do a DNA test, or she would tell everyone.

Determined for the truth not to come out, a panicked Penny got her cousin Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) to fake a test result, which somehow convinced Nicola.

Since then, Penny’s pregnancy has been going well, but next week Vinny starts to feel pushed out of their parenting journey.

After attending a birth‑plan appointment, a sidelined Vinny decides to talk to Penny about how he’s feeling.

During this conversation, Vinny declares his commitment to Penny and ‘their’ unborn child by asking her to move in with him.

Penny ultimately agrees, which excites Vinny, but she is secretly worried about having to tell Gina that she will be moving out of their flat.

But let’s be real, that should be far from her biggest concern, as the baby bombshell that she’s hiding is bound to explode. This is Walford after all…
