Linda Carter faces devastating fallout in EastEnders as fans spot a glaring plot hole
EastEnders have aired a new romance for Linda Carter but fans are worried she's set for heartbreak as an 'obvious plot hole' means her new beau might not stick around for long
Love is in the air for EastEnders’ Linda Carter – but so is heartbreak. The former pub landlady struck up a new romance with Grant Mitchell in tonight’s (6 May) episode, but fans are worried she’s setting herself up for failure, as an ‘obvious plot hole’ means the relationship won’t last.
After flirting all week, Linda (Kellie Bright) and Grant (Ross Kemp) finally acted on their feelings and kissed. Linda could be heard giggling as they ran upstairs together at her B&B.
While fans were excited that Linda seemed to be getting over her jealousy of the relationship between former flame Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), some were concerned that Linda would be left heartbroken when Grant inevitably leaves. His exit has already been confirmed, as when actor Ross Kemp returned, EastEnders made it clear that it was only temporary.
One fan wrote: “Maybe it’s me but I think Grant and Linda have surprisingly decent chemistry. My worry is Linda’s gonna have her heart broken in the end, not least since Ross Kemp’s return isn’t a permanent one.”
A second referred to the relationship as “a short term fling”, highlighting that “we know Grant ain’t around forever”. Another agreed that it was an “obvious plot hole”.
“It seems like such an obvious plot hole to have Grant only be back for a bit if they want us to root for him and Linda, and therefore even more obvious that she’s going to be heartbroken, unless she does leave with him.”
Some fans seemed to think Linda’s new romance and a moment where she told her son Johnny (Charlie Suff) that she “won’t be around forever” were a sign that Linda was heading off for pastures new, even if temporarily.
